He should hand the reins over now, IMO. I watched him last night, and looked to me like he wasn't even coaching. Just allowing the players to play as they wished, and the result was a lost against one of the worst teams in the Big 10. Sure is a good thing he didn't win the national championship that year, or he'd be another Tubby. This program can't afford to have his butt around that long.

Are you CRAZY???? Alford is Indiana's best chance for a dynasty. If Indiana wants to be like they were in the 70's and 80's, they better get ol Steve.

Crazy...no far from it. Exactly!! The 70's and 80's...were the past..nothing has changed about his coaching..not even his scott bayo hair cut. I dont think IN fans want him either...IMO. Yeah..hes done a "good" job at Iowa, but thats it....no championships in the future if he comes to town. Texas' coach would be nice...

Leave the Haircut out of this!!!!!:D That's personal! I agree with you on Texas' coach, but I seriously doubt he would want to leave that program. You are wrong though about Indiana fans not want Alford. They absolutely want Alford and to be honest nobody else. There was a poll on IU's campus and it was an overwelhming support for Indiana to get Steve Alford as coach. The Courier Journal has a poll in it today as well, and the results also are in Steve's favor, by a HUGE margin.
I watched the Iowa game the other night. They brought this up several times. The courtside reporter ( who was HOTT) said that she got the impression that Steve was very happy in Iowa and would probably not leave for the IU job.

Art,
Thanks for making my day!! I really wasnt looking forward to seeing Tony Danza making the team wear them ol' nut huggin bike shorts on:eek: . Eh, Alfords dad coached my H.S team...there is a picture of Steve Alford from his IN state (H.S Allstar) days in the local cheeseburger joint in my small hometown in IN....I know people love him, but the program will be "old school" not up to time to win a championship..IMO.
