On the way to work this morning (in rural southern Ohio), I saw a flock of turkeys on a point. I was moving too fast to see if there were any hens, but I clearly saw at least 3 male turkeys puffed up and strutting like crazy. Is this common this time of year? It got my blood pumping I know that.

I think someone on the trailcam forum has some pics of toms strutting during december. I have seen them strut all times of the year, but in the fall and winter it is never very long.

Its the springlike weather. They will start matin in the next week or two, and by the time April 15th rolls around it will be all OVER!:D

turk, that is blasphemy and if it happens I am holding you personally responsible.:D They should pipe down when it cools off again. Assuming it cools off again.

nothing out of the ordinary to see them strutting or hear a gobble any time of the year.

in a group of toms strutting is very common. its kinda like a bunch of guys getting together and showing off their muscles to determine who the top dog is. very good sign though.
