Seems like a long trip for nothing since one quota is the same weekend as regular season.

Yeah, but LBL has a lot of birds. I have heard that it is hard to hunt LBL, but I killed my first two there last year. I have put in with two others and hope to have a good season this year!

Take a look at the number that applied last year for the various dates. There is one quota hunt that should be a slam dunk for getting drawn since so few usually apply. Don't let that Easter Sunday bother you, I'm sure that God and the family will understand if you skip church on Easter weekend.

I just checked your bio here "plowboy". You wear socks older than 1960. Some of the rest of it was accurate though.

Do the birds at LBL count against you limit or are they bonus birds? If they do count, do they have a bonus hunt there?

Yes, they count on the KY state limit. No, they don't have bonus birds in the KY section. Only in the TN section could you take two spring birds in LBL (or one in each state and you have to read the TN regs closely). The KY portion limit is one. Good luck. LBL is the only thing I really miss about KY. It is a great area. Hope the new management plan doesn't mess the hunting up too much.

LBL limit is one(1) Kentucky bird, two(2) Tennessee birds.
We use to call it "LBL Slam".

Welcome back Joekat! What's wrong with my bio, totally accurate ya know. After last years fiasco and yahoos running all over me, I don't think I will even put in. I'll just wait till the 17th.

Valley - In the nine years I lived across from LBL I never made the connection that you could legally take a total of three LBL birds if you played TN just right. When I re-read everything it appears you are 100% correct. Now that TN non-res licenses require a home equity loan I wonder how many will try for the LBL Slam?

Plowboy - no way you can hunt Easter Sunday since you'll be too busy running around in a "bunny costume" for the grandkids - or is that Mrs. Plowboy that runs around in the bunny outfit? You sure have a lot of grandkids for a guy of your young age. Still chuckling.

JoeK,
Use to "burn up" Western Ky Parkway in the spring. I've taken a few "LBL Slams", back in the '80s.
Some of us use to run to Tennessee every spring, when license was $156.00 , Tenn turkey opener was last week in March and Tenn had lots of public hunting.
Cost to hunt Tennessee has gone up ($251.00 plus WMA tag ) and they, like Ky, have lost a lot of public hunting property( Westvaco ). Price and No place to hunt has cut back on the number of NR hunters, no doubt.
We use to run down hunt Westvaco property in Henry or Benton county early for (2) state birds. Then run back for first bird in LBL Tenn, then back across state line for Ky bird, then finish up with 2nd LBL Tenn bird.
