does fort knox have a spring turkey season? yes
if so when is it Normally starts in early April
and is it like the deer season where you have to be drawn to get to hunt. It is nothing like the deer draw. You have to be there on the Fri. before the hunt and submit to a chance drawing and then get in line. based on the number of areas open and your drawing luck, you may or may not get to hunt. No way to tell unless your there and how your luck is running that day.
if they do have one are the birds hard to call over there no harder than any other turkey that is hammered to death by scouting and other hunters.
and do they get a lot of presser? Yes, but it a weekend thing, but they are normally shut mouth well before the season is out because of too much pressure

There is hunting during the week once state season opens. I have always had good luck there. The military drawing is at 900 and the civilian drawing is at 2:00. There is alot of hunting pressure but there are plenty of birds. The end of season and early in the season the hunting can be awsome. Heard as many as 25 diffrent birds in one area.

Fireduck has preference in the drawing....civillians don't. Try it and see how it works for you. Valley can tell you about it, he's always there.

As Multi said, civilian access to Ft Knox turkey hunting can be tough.
Being a military base, Category 1 Hunters-military, civil service and volunteer game wardens get first priority to available turkey hunting areas.
Category 2 hunters-civilians have shot at what is left over of the less desirable areas.
For example last season, first weekend, after first draw, there was perhaps 20 slots left over.
There were probably 200 civilian, who drove to Ft Knox, by 1:00PM Friday to put their name in the hat, to draw for a slot to hunt. If you draw a good number, you get in line and hope they don't run out of areas before they get to you. There was probably 10% of the civilian hunters who got to hunt that made the effort.

I have killed as many birds as a civ. as I have as a cat. 1 hunter. There have been times I have not got draw in the civil service drawing. All depends on how much training is going on. You guys thought this deer season was bad wait till this year when the tankers and infantry both are training here.

You get drawn out, and IF you get to the window before they run out of areas, you will be allowed to sign in for the weekend, but a lot of the times, you have to split up your group or hunt different areas. On the plus side, most all areas have some turkeys, and some areas have a lot of turkeys.

and another question if i a Civ. want to hunt with a buddy who is civil service or retired then can i hunt with him if he gets to hunt or do we all have to be drawed. someone said they may have to split up you hunting groups. the other thing is why does everybody give multi s**t all the time, he seems to put out good info. and he answers just about every dumba** question i have ever asked on here.

Already answered that but it's a pot luck draw on the weekends before the state season opens. After the state season opens, it will be less. Everything depends on your initial draw from the coffee can, the number of areas open, and the number of people there in line and drawn before you.
You can hunt with who ever, but if you want to hunt with a Cat. 1 hunter, then he needs to be on your draw in the Cat. 2 drawing, unless he can get the area first, then you get lucky and get drawn before it fills up.
What typically happens is that you might have a party of three(for ex.) but by the time you get to the window, there are only single spots left in several different areas. You all have to split up if you want to hunt.
Good hunting if you get drawn, takes most of Friday afternoon to get it done, it's half day hunting too, but can be good if you get a good area.

If a cat. 1 hunter wants to hunt with a civ he has to put in the civ drawing. He can not put in the civ service drawing and take someone to hunt. But he take someone to call or video. Weekdays are your best shot. In most areas 6 is the most in an area some only have 4 or two hunters allowed. Sorry multi posted as I was typing.
