I here ya. I cant wait either. I also have bought too many calls in the past. I am not an expert, but I have noticed that some of the places i hunt the birds seem to like a very raspy call while others seem to like a very young high pitched call. I threw away all of the calls and got back to basics. I only use a single reed and a super raspy triple reed for my mouth calls. I have heard people say, and I think it is true, that turkeys dont want to hear the "perfect call". I have never heard a perfect hen in the woods. Most of them sound a little different anyway. Also I have heard that a tom knows most all, if not all the hens in his range by there distintintive sound. A new sound many times will intrigue him into wanting to breed and many times enough to make him reverse the natural breediing ritual by coming to you. Anyway, good luck this season.

I think 3 is enough. 1 multi-purpose call that you are most comfortable with. A backup to that, and I like to carry a third that I can make a better kee-kee sound on.

One never has too many mouth calls! My refrigerator looks like the turkey hunting section at Bass Pro:D My wife didnt like the butter box completely filled with calls but after 7 yrs. I think I finally got her trained.;) I carry 6 or 7 of my favorites with me huntin' each sounds like a different hen. I keep the rest at home for back-up.

I'm not sure, but when you go out and buy one of those large plastic storage bins to keep them in, I'd say you were getting close!!!!! I almost dread going to the national convention because I know that there are always several I just can't live without....

I don't think a person can ever have too many calls. I usually buy a few new calls a year, but it just depends on how they sound. I like having Gander Mt. in paducah because they have almost all of the calls out so you can mess with them and see how they sound. I love my slates. I have about 15 and mix it up when I go in day after day. my first day I take my favorites and if I don't harvest a bird or they don't seem to \respond to the ones I'm hitting them with I go back the next time with a different variety.
When it comes to mouth calls I used the piggy back last year by Primos and I love em. They will be my first purchase this year because I pretty much wore out the ones from last year.
Like I said you can never have too many because there are so many out there. Some guys like to stay with the same calls for years and never buy that many but if thats what they like and they are successful then more power to em. I just like to experiement with the new products. Good luck

One mouth call is to many. I hate those things. They leave a bad taste in my mouth. I only carry one and slip it in incase i need to get a bird to stick his head up.
As far as other calls. You can never have to many.

40lbs?! For a turkey vest, 10lbs is my limit with all the walking I usually have to do to bag a tom. I'll bet I walk a good 4-5 miles a day when I turkey hunt.

To SkinDog:
I've been here. Just read more than I post. Deer season was a bust, but I got some good Turkey spots lining up.
I get with you soon. Thanks, Russ.
