Everything looks to be fine in Lexington, just heavy rain and wind. Nothing major from our house. Hope everyone else is okay also.

It is leaving my area now , we didn't get too much damage, a few power outages and heavy rain in most of the area.
Called dad in Morgan county, some wind, heavy rain. It is out of the state now.
Hope all made it through ok.

About 7:30 we had a lightning strike on the big oak out back, or on the house itself, cant' be sure. Somehow it managed to throw a breaker, and my son felt a bit of a jolt. I was passing a window at the instant it hit, and it was like looking at an arc welder. I was kinda stunned and blinded, and thought something shorted out. It was a second or so until I realized thunder was reverberating all over the place.
I ran and checked on the kids, and then outside to check on the dogs (in that order) and checked the house and found the thrown breaker. The TVs and phones were fine, but when I fired up the computer, it said the network cable had been unplugged, and there was no DSL connection. But the hard drive and everything was fine. My wife, the tech-head, said the ethernet port was fried, but she used a USB cable to get it back up.
I figure the old oak took a direct hit, and the roots of the tree are probably in contact with the foundation walls, allowing a little loose voltage to get into the house. I've seen roots carry voltage right into a house and seriously char the floor joists. No major damage tonight, thank goodness.

Glad to hear that everyone made it through the storms...I think the storm we had here early Monday morning was worse than last night's....the forecast is calling for snow and very low temperatures by Thursday. :(

I am tired of looking for an avatar that I actually like...I ran across this one late last night....Jim Carrey from his "In Living Color" days...it's going to stay for awhile. :D

Rode the wave of storms out in a pit in a rice field. :D
Nothing like lightning, high winds and a tornado watch to add to the ambience of a duck hunt.
Came a toad strangler for about 10 minutes but the winds were so high it blew right through and the sun came out. We figured a hole in the ground was probably one of the safer places to be should a twister touch down on us.

Leggy, you can borrow mine if you like, or my brother's, or my sister's. But that may be taking a fine thing a little too far...

Back to the storms, I was in E-town Monday afternoon with a friend and we stopped at a Jr Food Store to grab a Coke. As far as I can tell about 20-30 minutes after we left, the store was demolished by the tornado. The good lord was watching over us for sure. Nobody was hurt as far as I know.

to add t owhat gunhunter said, mckinney had an f2 tornado. there were 9 mobile homes damaged, 4 were about 1/2 mile from my house. they were a total loss. one ofthem was rolled on to the rail road tracks, luckily no serious injuries. we had trees down on the roads, but thankfully everyone is fine. the redcross is involed along with a few other agencies. we are a tight community, everyone seems to be helping out in some way or another. there was reports on the news of missing people, but that was a false statement, everyone was accounted for. had a barn or two blown down, a few roof issues, but it could have been worse. we will just have to pick up and make the best of it.

DD, glad it wasn't worse. No one lost their life is really the main point but those who lost their property , my heart goes out to them.
