Anyone out there ever fish Big Caney Creek in Elliot county or Indian creek in Menifee county? If so, how was the fishing and how do you get there in general?

If I remember right there are 2 Caney Creeks in Elliott County. One runs East/West but the one you are looking for runs North/South and actually comes out of the southern most tip of the lake down to Fannin and on down to Morgan County. I think I am right on that.

.45, If you still have that link that shows the county roads, post it or send it to me. I've lost it. I can mark the locations for y'all. It has been a few years since I've fished those places, but me and my dad used to go every time they stocked. They also used to stock out past the university farm in Rowan county.

I am not sure where that link went to but I remember looking at it on the net. I fish North Fork of the Triplett out Cranston often but don't catch much of anything but dinkers. Thanks for the information.

Take care

.45 & Birdman,
I've got some directions to where they use to stock trout in Elliott county. This is for the Laruel creek, dad and I use to fish there a lot. Route 173 (Hogtown Ridge) runs between Rt 7 and Morehead. Turn on to Rt 556, go about 2 miles out to Spring Rd (Ruin). Follow this road until it crosses a creek. This is where they stock the Laruel.

Red River Gorge, Indian Creek is located in Menifee county, the road turns off Rt 77 right before you cross Red River(Powell County). Indian creek road runs beside Red River for a ways and then turns north. Follow this for about a mile. Indian Creek runs beside the road.
Years ago a better place to fish was Swift Creek (Wolfe County) in the gorge. This is between Rt 77 and the Mt. Pkwy on Rt.715. They stocked Swift creek at the entrance to Swift Creek Campground, located at the bottom of the hill below Sky Bridge. This was always one of my favorite places to fish.
I don't know if they stock either of these anymore but I sure had a good time talking to dad tonight comfirming the location to Laurel. He started out with..........I remember back in 76' or 77'......
Ya got a love it!!! Well if they are still stocking these, I've done everything but bait your hook. Good luck fishun'.
