What do I need to do to legally set some no. 2 steel traps? I will be placing the traps on my own property. I want to set them for several coyotes around home if it is legal to target coyote. They are getting more brave everyday seems like. My family has livestock(some have vanished) and I have found two deer carcasses close to home with coyote droppings everywhere. Please tell me where I can purchase trapping liscenses and any hints on setting the traps would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for your replies. By the way, if anyone lives near Perry Co. and would like the coyote to skin out, please let me know.

Marcus ,
You need to address this question to F&W . Even though there is no coyote season ,Trapping season is now closed, but, if your protecting live stock, it may be O.K.
Safer bet is to shoot them, if you have the time.

Thanks VS,
I don't want to anything illegal(intentionally or not). I am off the whole weekend and I will try to get a few guys together and take care of a few coyotes Sunday evening. I'll take time to read the trapping guide for all the rules, regs. and dates. Again...Many thanks.....

Hey VS,
I went looking for those yotes this past weekend. I took a couple friends and placed them at the end of a gorge above the cliff line. The main top had been strip mined leaving a steep bank of timber above the top of the cliffline. I tried to jump the coyotes so they would go past my friends. No luck though, but a nice bobcat did run past one of the guys. Saw 13 or so deer; I think this would be a heck of a place for a late season drive come next deer season. I kind of speculate I may have scared the coyotes out of the area last weekend. I might give them some time to move back in and try again later.
