So what's up with the cats this year? It has been very disappointing. They started pre-season ranked in the top 5, looked great against Duke and now we got swept by GA and possibly swept by TN tonight. Prince has not been spectacular, Bogans can't find the basket, etc...
I am not a spectator of nature, but rather a participant; a hunter.

They need a big banger like Parker at center. Someone who can be fouled and still stuff it. Also, their chemistry seems off for some reason. It's a big

I think they have 2 main problems.
1. They don't have a big man who does not play like a small forward.
2. They don't have a take charge guard (they played their best when
Hawkins led the team) Good or bad someone has to take charge.

They have 3 problems -- their coach flunked the comparative study course entitled "Your butt from a hole in the ground."

I want to have some fun with this—I heard Joe BBs imitation on the radio explaining U OF K’s slip as one big set-up. You see it is a conspiracy—all a big conspiracy against U OF K. For example, this fight on the airplane between Sears (bench warmer) and Fitch (the latest all-star) is part of the conspiracy. See—this Sears must be a spy against the greatest college basketball team in the history of mankind. It was probably started somewhere like UofL or TN. Sears was just laying in wait to ambush a good player. If TN wins tonight you know it is a big CONSPIRACY!!! It is all a big conspiracy. Did I say it was a conspiracy?
Look at Par—tin--no going to Lousyville—again part of the conspiracy. People are conspiring against U OF K. Just wait, if U OF K keeps going down they are going to get to go to the NIT tournament and woop up on old Lousyville (if they make it).
Just poking some fun—Go Cards—Football that is! Most of us are just casual observers—WE ACTIVELY PARTICIPATE IN OUR OWN SPORT—CHASING CRITTERS. I never catch a game on the weekend, just the recaps.

You all are no fun. In almost 24 hours I was unable to provoke a single Big Blue fan. Usually, ya'll would bite like a bluegill on a bed--no fun!

Sorry, CPA. But it's all too close to the truth to raise much argument.
CPA,
If it makes you feel any better, I had a talk with a friend of mine this morning and told him of what you wrote (in jest). His reply was, "this guy might be on to something"!!!

Before Tubby time, I used to have two favorite teams--U.K. and who ever was playing Looooavulle. Now I just pull for who ever is playing Loooooavulle. If the Iraqi's had a team and they played Looooooavulle, I'd have to pull for them.
I can't hardly wait till it's time to kill something again. Anybody know a good spot in Tennessee?

Hey CPA, I think TUBBY IS A slob as a person, a racist as a coach and has destroyed more talent than Pitino has at U0fL, now that is from someone who use to watch every game I could catch and record the rest of the BIG BLUE. Now with the events of today with Daniels and Fitch
I hope they get rid of Tubby and replace him with Tabby the cat.

Highbow, you ain't alone. Everybody I work with seems to feel the same way. Shame Pitino had not come back a year later. I think we would have seen him with the blue tie again. I bleed Cardinal Red, but I have to pull for blue too, since I did live in KY for 10 years and it was the first place I learned to watch the game. Football was all anyone cared about where I came from--Mississippi.
You see it all over in all sports.........if the guy is winning he's goood..........if he's losing its time to get a new one. It's not always the the man in charge that makes the team win. One bad year and their not worth watching????.......to many what you call get on the wagon guys......it makes me S I C K ! If your a true fan of a team you'll stick through thick on thin.........Blue...Red....or Buckeye
G O O H I O S T A T E !!!!!!!!!! win or loose!!!

Those Cats pulled another rabbit out the hat today. Do you ever wonder how these other schools end up with such good players that no one else has heard of till its too late for KY to get them and they play circles around the all - americans.

Good news. At least we are not Tar Heel fans. We have increased our lead on them for all time wins.

The cats looked pretty good today, hopefully they can keep playing as a team and make a run for the championship.

5 years later different players, same coach, no final fours. At some point maybe everyone will take the blinders off.

I really didn't think he ( Tubby ) did that good of a job at Georgia....I believe the UK Board of Directors should look a lot longer next time when they do search for Tubby's replacement... When that ever does happen.....

I thought I was in a time warp there for a minute.
Now that I read through I understand. I think that it is more than business here in KY. I think Tubby has became one of the family and he is here as long as he wants to be. As much as it hurts to type that.

No way! If he had won a couple more National Titles in his first few years I think he would be there as long as he wanted. I think there is too much speculation that Tubby won his only title because of Pitino's players. Another year like last year and an early exit from the NCAAs equals a hot hot seat for Orlando. If he makes it until next year, he will have to perform or he is out. I personally don't think he will. I think the Big Blue will be in the market for a new coach either this offseason or next.
Did that sound waaaaaaayyy to much like wishful thinking?

I like your thinking but I just don't know.
I don't EVER see UK getting rid of Tubby. He will have to leave on his own. The anti-UK sports media would have a field day if UK were to fire Tubby. They already take shots at the fans who are upset with the state of UK basketball. Bottom line is that I don't think Tubby deserves to be "fired" but I think there will come a time when everyone realizes that it's time for a change but Tubby will still have to be the one who makes the first move. I really like Tubby as a person and I think he's a good coach, but i also would like to see a change made. I think one thing that we all overlook is the fact that if Tubby were to leave, who says Mitch will hire someone any better?? There's a better than average chance we could end up in worse shape then we are now.

I don't necessarily think Tubby will be fired. It may happen, it may not. I think it is much more likely that the higher ups come to him and say in oh so many words, "resign or be fired". This happens enough and it is a good way for Tubby to save face.
I agree with earlier posters, I have nothing against Tubby as a person. It will be difficult to get a better man as head coach than Tubby Smith. I do think they can get a better head coach though.
Art is right, there is a good chance that once Tubby leaves we will have an inferior coach come in. Anytime changes are made that is a risk you take. Myself, I think it is worth the risk. Either way we are not winning Nat'l Championships and the next coach would be easier to get rid of.

Ok, for the sake of seeing what could happen if Tubby was gone, which I say is a must for UK basketball to get back to the Norm...
Look what happened to IU basketball since they got rid of Bobby Knight... Hired Mike Davis....He in turn led the Hoosier's to the National Title game but failed to win the game...He like Tubby led Bobby Knight's team he recruited to the final game.... But his recruiting went down hill from there, Sean May going to N.C. over coming to IU as an example.... IU not making the big dance a couple of times since Davis took over...hard to imagine...but true.... Now we have Sampson...an already proven rule breaker...what will he do for the program, have to wait and see on that one...
Now for the fun part.... since Bobby Knight left IU, he has done nothing but bring life back to Texas Tech basketball...Has produced 20 win seasons since he went there and proved he can still coach...But the administrators at IU just didn't want a real coach to be there....
So you all at UK could wind up with yet another crappy coach like Mike Davis to replace Tubby....I believe it takes more than 1 to 2 weeks to find a good coach and don't settle for the first one who can kiss the head honcho's butts either....
