Hey guys and gals! I need some help if any of yall are around Lyon Co. I was told yesterday that I was hired to be a Conservation Officer for KDFWR!!! WOOOOOOO!!!! Anyway, I will be stationed in Lyon Co. on the north end of Lake Barkley and will cover half of LBL. Mossyhorns here I come!!! I will probaly be moving in April, but want to start looking for prospective places to live. Would like to be on a tenant house on a farm if all possible. Are there many places like that available down there? Is land going pretty high down there? I really think I will like it down there. Alot of activity year round. I have relatives down in Cadiz, so I know my way around pretty good already. Any help is appreciated!

FW, I suspect you weren't figuring on hearing this for a least a few more years, but welcome to heaven!

There's not much left of Lyon Co. since the LBL was carved out. You should be able to find land from about $750/ac and up. Might find some scrub stuff suitable for hunting for less. There's a lot of Westvaco timber land around to hunt on (they're beginning to sell some of this land off, however), the LBL, and some TVA or Corps land that's open to the public.

Your new Captain is the meanest son-of-a-gun on two feet! I have it on good authority that he eats nails and razorblades for breakfast. He longs for the good old days on the riot squad in Detroit, so be ready to rumble if he reaches for that big, long flashlight. (He ain't no good at deer hunting, though. Always shoots a little puny one.)

Good luck! If I can help you, let me know.

Congrats Dan!

Get ready for the academy it's a lot of fun! HE! HE!
The pepper spray is good for the sinuses. Watch out for the REDMAN!

When I lived in Cadiz rent was cheap. I paid $300/month for a small apartment. I'd imagine things are a little more expensive in Eddyville, except at the prison. Get in touch with the tourism dept. for Lyon Co. and they will know who has apt.'s or rental houses. Let me know and I'll get them for you, my friends are at the Trigg tourism.
