Well if its a Mossberg I'm guessing it will be: cheap, rattly, built like a tank, and last forever. I like Mossbergs, had a 500 pump for years and they are worth more than what they cost. I don't like the rattles and looseness but they are very good guns.

Mavericks have been around for years, they're an even cheaper version of the Mossberg. Don't know anyone that's had one in a long time but I haven't heard anything bad about them.

You hardly ever see them so evidently they're not very popular. Probably why you haven't had any responses.

I've had several shotguns and believe it or not, the Maverick 88 shoots best for me. It just fits me well.

From what I can gather, the Maverick is pretty much a Mossberg 500 that's assembled in Mexico - the only difference being a trigger guard mounted push safety instead of the slide safety on the top side of the receiver as on the 500.

I like mine very much and have considered buying another since they're so cheap.

Hope that helps.

I've got a Model 88 myself and like it. It carries and shoulders good. I had a problem with the forearm and they sent me a replacement forearm with an upgrade. The upgrade will prevent the problem from happening again, so I was happy about that. Great gun in my opinion. Nothing like having one you don't mind banging up a little.
