I put it out every year. I use it in my pastures and food plots. It does cost alot. $2.60/pound for pre-innoculated certified seed. It will pay for it'self in the first year due to the nitrogen fixing bacteria. All legumes will do this but white clover is near the top. Also what is the #'s / acre for lespedesa? for white clover you need just 1 lb for a mixture and only 5 lbs for a pure stand There are about 800,000 seeds per pound of white clover. That means you need less than $15/acre for seed. Not bad when you look at it that way. And for each acre, 1 pound of clover will fix about 50 to 90 pounds of nitogen per year for the plants around it to utalize.

The low growing whites are generally better for wildlife. Reason? They'll reseed most every year, don't get so tall they "scald" theirselves out if not mowed. Don't fix as much nitrogen and total tons per acre is lower. Lespedeza fixes nitogen. Not as much as clovers but still a significant amount. It's big advantage over clovers is the seed crop is utilized by quail.
