i have a 243 rem. my buddy has a 222 which he would trade to me. my question is which would be better for coyote. i use to deer hunt ,but not anymore. :)

The .243 would have a longer range, plus a heavier bullet then the .222, but also more noise. I'd choose the .243 as you might want to hunt Deer again. There is nothing wrong with the .222 though if the ranges are no more than 200 yards with a 50 to 55 grain bullet.

The 222 is super accurate out to about 200-250 or so, the 243 would get the nod for anything longer. Plus with the 243, you'll have a wider choice of bullet selection and can find loads designed to save hides of the varmint you kill. 222 is about obsolete, with the 223 being a lot cheaper to shoot and a lot more readily available.
