This is the best rifle I have ever shot. My father has one and we have never had a problem with it jamming or not loading. My wife's grandfather left one to my father in law and I got it off of him. Her grandfather always said it was the best gun he ever had. I have had it for 4 years now and would not trade it for any rifle out there. It is an accurate shooting gun up to 250 yards I can hold a 5 inch group. But I would like to get into reloading my own shells. Factory loads are not as reliable as a good reloaded shell from an expierenced reloader, also it has a beautiful stock, It may need to be blued in a few more years. For the type hunting I do, I don't think any rifle could beat it.

The 30/30 has become a very under-rated and overlooked caliber.
There have probably been more deer killed with a 30/30 than any other single caliber rifle. I has gotten an undeserved reputation as under powered.I have had Both Marlin and Winchester and like the Marlin best (side ejection)
But it will kill a Deer just as dead as a .338, No it does'nt have the range of some of the modern calibers, and that is the problem, if used within its limits
anyone would love it. I hunt with a .243 some people think it is too small for deer but I have a freezer full of meat to prove that wrong.

I have a Marlin 30/30 and that's all I hunt with. Every deer I've ever killed was with the gun I speak of. I love the gun. It is enexpensive to shot, has plenty of range for all of the hills and hollers that I hunt, and not real expensive to buy.

I've killed more deer with a .243 than anything. I'll never understand why people think they need a shoulder breaking .300 to kill deer with
