I am new to hunting and would like to ask if a 12 ga shotgun is ok to hunt deer with, of with a slug. Also my 12 gauge is solid black and does not have a shine to it at all, therefore would this gun need to be camoflaged in order to turkey hunt with it.

A 12 GA is fine to deer hunt with, your range will not be as great as with a rifle. I used one in IN for years and they work well. Be sure to take it to the range and check it out. Be sure to use the proper choke.
Black will work fine for turkey.

Thank you for the info Steve Myer. It is good to know that when I do go deer hunting that having a 12 gauge will not be out of place and that it is not necessary to camoflage my shotgun for turkey hunting

The 12 ga is all that my grandad ever hunted deer with. Before he passed away, he kille more deer than anyone else that I know. He only had one arm but could out shoot and out fish any one with 2 arms. To answer your question, Yes a 12 ga is appropriate for deer.
