HENDERSON MAN SENTENCED TO 10 YEARS IN PRISON
ON METHAMPHETAMINE AND GUN CHARGE
David L. Huber, United States Attorney for the Western District of Kentucky, announced that TERRY WOOD, age 49, of 15820 Highway 1078 South, Henderson, Kentucky, in Henderson County, was sentenced in United States District Court, Owensboro, Kentucky, for possession of methamphetamine, possession of pseudoephedrine and other materials associated with the manufacture of methamphetamine, and possession of a firearm in furtherance of his methamphetamine manufacture and trafficking.
United States District Court Judge Joseph H. McKinley, Jr., sentenced Wood, who had no significant prior criminal history, to10 years’ imprisonment, plus 4 years’ supervised release following incarceration. There is no parole in the federal judicial system. In addition, the Court entered a preliminary order of forfeiture, ordering Wood to forfeit his house, firearms, and $1,666.00 in cash.
Wood had previously pled guilty to several federal crimes including possession with intent to distribute five grams or more of methamphetamine, possession of pseudoephedrine and other materials associated with the manufacture of methamphetamine, and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime. In pleading guilty, Wood admitted that police officers conducted a traffic stop on him on October 29, 2004. As a result of the traffic stop, officers recovered a small amount of methamphetamine, 472 pseudoephedrine pills, and $1,666.00 from Wood. After the traffic stop, officers searched Wood’s house, where they found 14.18 grams of pure methamphetamine, more pseudoephedrine pills, various materials and equipment used to manufacture methamphetamine, and three firearms. The guns included a loaded Harrington & Richardson .22 caliber handgun, a loaded 12-gauge pump shotgun, and a loaded Davis Industries .32 caliber 2-shot Derringer.
Assistant United States Attorney Madison T. Sewell prosecuted the case. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives, Henderson County Sheriff’s Department, and the Daviess County Sheriff's Department conducted the investigation.
