anyone have any experience loading 30 cal. sabots with 22 cal bullets(Accellerator style). I'm wondering how hot you can go without blowing out the sabot and if it will destroy the accuracy if they are too hot???

Sorry never tried 'em, what I've read though; is it's pretty hard to get "acceptable accuracy"(subjective) with them, maybe that's due to the various .308's usual 1-10 twist rate???

Sounds like a "fun" project, I'd like to know "how it goes" if you have the time to report your results, I'd be very interested!

I'm planning on shooting them in a 30-30 Contender 14" barrel

Multi, that should be an awesome combo!!

I've been thinking of having one built in 7-30 Waters, that I think would be some fun gun hunting???(though I may never get 'er done) :D

Have you looked at the Hornady 130 SSP(Single Shot Pistol) bullets, they are made for the contender's velocity(and they're an "Interlock")..(#3021 they're only about $15 per hundred around here) :)

IF we were closer, I'd donate several for you to test( I've loaded some for my son's .308 @ 3000 fps as a "varmint load" so he can have "some fun" while shooting other than paper.....

I've heard they do very well in that application(though I'm interested in how this works as well) :D

Never tried em but I've read about them and everyone says accuracy ain't much, for whatever that is worth. Maybe you could pick up a 223 barrel for that Contender?

I'm loading 125 gr. BT's now for deer and antelope. Just want something more explosive for the P-dogs.

Gotcha!! (now) :D

I hope you can get MOPD(Minute of P-Dog) with them!!

Let us know when you find THE combo?? :)

Since with P-dogs there will be quite a bit of shooting, I've heard that it's hard to beat Acetone for removing the plastic fouling, just a thought...

IF that doesn't work to your satisfaction; hornady also has a.308 110 spire point(#3010 IIRC) that just may do what you want, and for a very good price, hope that it helps...

Might not take as much working up loads to get it shooting well enough??? Just another random thought :D
