I have a Mossberg 500 smooth bore that I shoot. Try the Brenneke (sp?) slugs they work great.

Have been hunting deer at Ft knox with shotgun slugs for about thirty years.
Use a 12 gauge smooth bore Remington pump, standard slug ( Foster type), with a good quality scope. Works very well out to about 125 steps.

Dennis, there's several new slugs out this year, plus the ones from old. Try the Rem. Buckhammers first and see how they do. Federal is also making a new Ball slug that has good preformance. Lightfields also work decent in smooth bores. If you gun is threaded, try and use a rifled choke for a little better results.

I have been using regular ole Winchester rifled slugs you can buy at wal-mart for about $6 for 15 of them. I shoot a 11-87 with a smooth bore slug barrel and they group at 3 inches at 75 yards. They also group better with just an improved cylinder choke than they do with a rifled choke. I have thought about trying some of the new ones but since those work and I don't have a lot of money I never do.
