Ive been squrriel hunting two nights in a row with JDM2007 and have only saw one from along ways away, and he escaped before we could get him. We have been out around plenty of cuttings and still havnt seen any. He got a few the other night but that shouldnt stop them from coming. I think its just too hot and we need to go in the morning though....

Thats about the ratio I always see. Always way less fox squirrels than grey's.

Feel fortunate you are seeing squirrels........I hunted opening morning and went to areas where I normally limit in minutes and didnt even seen a cut nut.....
There were 6 in our party and between us we managed one grey squirrel.....
The good news is deer season starts in a couple weeks.......:D

Won't shoot fox squirrells. Haven't for years, unless it's a small one. They are lazy, heavy and rarely fry well.

I have not seen a fox squirrel in over 5 years, I going to hunt were I grew up friday,Be hunting all day long, because dad told me some deer have been crossing his driveway , so it's time to do some scouting and set up the camera.

Went opening morning, saw 3, killed 0, got stung by yellowjackets, had to get out before I swelled up 5 sizes. My 7 year old was with me and I was afraid he couldn't drive the truck if I passed out, so we bounced quick.
Went Sunday morning, killed 6, and was home by 9:00 a.m.:D Nice to beat the heat.
Time to go grease a skillet.

So are we talking about fox or red squirrels then? Man I hate those red ones when you are sitting on your stand and one gets spooked or something and they don't shut up for an hour or more. The red ones seem to hang out more in the pines, and it seems like the grays and foxes haev their own areas as well.
