I was wondering if some of you might guide me in the right direction.
I know a single mom that lives on the Ky Tn line in clarksville tn. near hopkinsville ky. she has a 12 yr old boy who is ate up with the outdoors. His dad disappeared on them when he was small. Anyway i would like to take him on his first deer hunts this yr but hes never had his hunters ed class.I dont live in his area , so i was wondering if anyone knew of a class near him that his mom could take him to. so when i come and take him hunting, he will be good to go.
thanks for any help

There is a hunters ed class on post (Fort Campbell) every month. Go to the Ky dept of fish and wildlife web site, there is a link to the various places and dates for the classes. F.C. is listed in Christan Co. (I think) the nice thing about that one is its held on saturday and is compleated in one day. I took my daughter and nephews there last spring they put on a great class!
Hope this helps.

If your hunting in kentucky I don't think that boy needs hunters Ed til he gets a little older as long as an adult is with him. I think that taking him to hunters ed is a good start for him though. We need more hunters and if more of use were out recruiting them when they are young like this we would not have to worry about the future of hunting...... it would be secure. Good Job Gators:cool:

IIRC; anyone hunting over age of 10 years old needs the orange card;(IF required to buy lic and or tags...i.e. NOT hunting on their own land)

AND anyone UNDER 16 ALSO MUST have an adult with them at all times(and be in a position to take the weapon(gun or bow) if needed) when hunting FWIW.

Edited to add:
(unless born before the date(born on or after Jan 1,1975)

Buckseeker, if I am not mistaken, there is also a class on 12,13 and 14 Sept at Sams Place (Valley Creek Archery) just south of E-town. I get back into town just in time to take my step son (10) there.

Deer stalker32,

Do you have anymore info on the Knob Creek deal? I'd like to get that taken care of, so I don't have to worry about it anymore.....Thanks!
