Are we allowed to use pellet rifles to hunt squirrels. I have a Gamo Shadow 1000. I was just wandering if I could hunt with it this coming saturday.
Im sure a pellet traveling 1000 fps is more than enough power to kill a squirrel but don't want to break and wildlife laws.

I'm not KDFWR
But I asked them the question last year and they said yes!

I wouldn't think it would be illegal to use a pellet rifle for Squirrels. Here in Indiana we can use pellet rifles or pistols for Rabbits and Squirrels; infact I shot my VERY FIRST Squirrel & Rabbit with my pellet rifle at age 12.

I have found that it depends on who you ask as to what the answer is. We ask several people those same questions last year when the CVSL had the Standing Stone air rifle shoot and got answers on both sides.

Well I called to double check this morning and they told me that I couldn't hunt with a pellet rifle. So I guess I will have to take the old 12 gauge.
The hunting guide says you cant hunt with a slingshot. So how could it be prohibited to hunt with a high powered pellet rifle, if not specified in the guide?

Well I emailed KDFWR and asked the same question and Major Randy Hedges said it was legal to hunt squirrel with the pellet rifle. So im sticking with my pellet rifle, need to go shoot it to make sure the scope is still on.
Good luck to you guys this seson and be safe.
