.460 is pretty pricey. Looks like unprimed brass is about $45/20

450 gr. Barnes X bullet $99/20
500 FMJ Hornady $86/20
500 gr. RN Hornady $86/20

Not for plinking tin cans for sure? :D

I have one one the way...so looking for a little ammo. Trying to stock up for a prairie dog hunt next summer  Just kidding. When it comes I will take pics of my shoulder bruise after I shoot it :D Will post pics and let you know how I like it as soon as I get it and order some ammo. Thanks.

If any individuals have some ammo they won't use please let me know.

I had the pleasure (?) of shooting one of these monsters back in 1981, while I was Black Bear Hunting with my Cousin in Washington State. One of his friends collected Weatherby rifles and I bet he had all of them!! He showed me his prized one a Mark V (I think) in .460 Magnum, which he had open sights on it. He asked me if I'd like to shoot it and I said "Sure". So we went out back to fire it. He had an oil drum setting up around 75 yards away and he handed me two shells, and told me to aim at the middle and BESURE to HOLD the rifle butt tight against my shoulder, and grip the forearm tightly. Well, I placed a single cartridge in the chamber and shouldered the rifle and pulled the trigger. BOOM!!!! and it made me step back about three steps!! He told me to try her again so I did BOOM!!!! The recoil was really not all that I expected about like firing 12 gauge slugs in my Ithaca M-37 Featherlite, but it did have a sizable kick. He the brought out his other "Favorite" a .378 Magnum which I fired only once and it seemed to kick harder. Anyway it was interesting to fire these monsters!! :D P.S. I also Attended Murray State U. and graduated back in 1974; received a B.S. Degree in Biology. I imagine MSU has changed quite abit since 1974!!! :)

I honestly have no use for a rifle of this size. However, I remember reading about the big .460 Weatherby as a kid in my hunting magazines and have always wanted one. Well, I guess that time is here. Based on the price of ammo, and the potential punishment to the shooter, I probably won't need many rounds. I figure a box of 20 will last a lifetime :D
