This post may be a bit premature, but thought I would ask for some advice before I carried on with my bow tuning. OK... shooting a Mathews Legacy at around 64 lb. draw wt., 28.5" DL, Whisker Biscuit rest. Gold Tip Exp. Hunter 5575 carbons, GT straight vanes. Practiced for a couple months with 100 grain field tips, bow tuned very well; shooting great groups at 20 yards, shooting decent groups at 30 yards. Then--- ordered some 100gr G5 Montecs
to try. Shot 2 arrows Saturday with the Montecs and I feel like now I am getting a little kick to the left, but it looks like it isn't happening until it's almost to the target. So I just stopped shooting.(this was at 15 yards.) Any suggestions on what to try. I figured you guys could help me out before I go screwing something up.

are your vanes straight or offset. straight vanes will allow the broadhead to plane. offset will stabilize the broadhead and eliminate wind planing, or broadhead drift. check the vanes and if they are not offset, refletch with offset and see if it changes the flight of the arrow. only change one or two to start, and make sure thats the problem. this will probably fix it.

Thanks, Keith. I am shooting straight vanes, and I thought that might be the issue, but wanted to pop this message out there for the experts before I made the wrong decision.

Are we talking a right offset? Or left?

I don't have the tools to re-fletch myself, so I'll have to take'em to the pro shop and let them do the offsetting for me. (dangit!)

Either, it won't make a difference right or left, either will get the arrow to spin and stablize the broadhead. I shoot a helical all the time so I don't have to make a lot of adjustment when I change over to my broadheads.

straight offset would be the correct term i guess, but left or right really isnt an issue, just get em spinning and that will help.
