What a great day!!! Another dominating performance by Smoke (also known as Tony Stewart). By the way, for any other Stewart fans, the town of Columbus, Indiana will be holding a victory parade for their homeboy on Monday night at 7:00PM. Yes, Tony will be there. Maybe Nascar should start printing the 2005 Nascar Champ shirts up now?

you're probably right. I didn't watch or listen to the race and actually just got the nes from you. Sounds like he's the man to beat for the remainder of the season. Hopefully he'll keep it exciting!

Too early to tell yet I think.. I recall the last 2 seasons where guys went on a 5 or 10 race domination streak only to come up short... Under the old points system, Smoke would be in good shape.. Under this system, he may win the next 3 races and finish 10th. As good as Tony can be, he can also self-destruct with the best of them.. I hate the new system, because it can make what Tony has done recently all for crap basically in the big picture.

Tony's pretty good at upcoming tracks so he may just pull it off. I'm hoping for Mark Martin to do it but we'll see. Last nite on "victory Lane" Jimmy Spencer says they need to "tweek" the new point system, mainly because Gordons not in the top 10

I think I agree. I don't fully understand the mess of rules that Nascar has...but the way I understand it is that when the "Race for the cup" starts, its basically a new game...right? Anyone with the lead in season points should have some kind of advantage IMO...if not, its just publicity BS

Thats exactly what it is. It gets more ratings at the end now, whereas before you had drivers clinching early and I guess people stopped watching.. It is BS, but that is the way NASCAR has decided it wants to go. They have sold out the sport IMO. I still watch it, but I don't follow it like I used to. Theres all kinds of stuff that points to NASCAR tuning into a form of the WWE.

Smoke is using it all up to early. Drivers have had hot streaks before, remember Harry Gants big run? He better save a little of that luck up for the chase. Watch for Biffle, he had a good run on the last handful of races last year. Hoping for a repeat this year!

it just AMAZES me how many people can actually pull for stewart. i mean the guy is a ticking time bomb w/his temper. sure, he hasn't had any meltdowns recently - but that's just cause things are going his way. just wait til the chase starts and somebody causes a wreck that he gets involved in, he's gonnablow like the 4th of july!! all ya gotta do is check the man's track record (smacking a tape recorder out of a reporter's hand, cussing some poor old lady at daytona in an apparent road rage incident, wrecking gordo a few years back at bristol AFTER the checkered flag - BRILLIANT!! - just the kind of cat you want your kids to root for  ). and to top it all off, he starts winnig races and decides he wants to climb the fence and shake his booty like terrell owens in the end zone. which wouldn't be ALL bad if he didn't come out the next week and say "its just my thing i like to do after wins, now if anyone else does it they're just copying me". WHAT A CROCK!! helio castroneves climbed the fence like 3 years ago at indy - STEWART WAS THERE - so he KNOWS he ain't the first guy to do it. what a jerk.

last year jeff gordon had the same type of run going when last years chase started but didn't win, so THERE IS hope that stewart won't win. but if tony keeps it up there won't be any catching him:( . as long as kurt busch don't win again i'll be ok. it would be REALLY COOL if rusty were to figure out a way to win it in his last year but i don't see it happenin.

enuff of the rant, gotta pack for bristol, headin out a week from tomorrow. here's to home depot orange - ALL OVER THE WALL in turn 1

not a rusty fan, but i would like to see him win in his last year. besides that, what do he and the 20 have to do w/each other?

Well, I have been a Smoke fan for years, and yes he is a hot head, but many are and it is all how the media spins it, even that drunk broad road rage laugher. People are always mad when someone gets on a streak like he is. I mean, Jeffy Gordo punched Mike Bliss in the face just a few weeks ago, but Nascars golden boy can't be labeled a hot head can he?

As for the fence climbing, he knows Helio started it, not that anyone watches that series to see it, but I think he means it's his (in regards to Nascar).

Glad to see Rusty go, tired of him blaming everyone but himself for problems. If Smoke doesn't do it, I think Mark Martin would be my second choice, then maybe Sadler.

Just hope Jeffy Gordo doesn't make the chase, bad as I hate him, he is an awesome racer with bad luck this year. He makes it in the chase and he will be a favorite regardless.

I'm just messing with ya, they are both hot heads is what they have in common. I've been a stewart fan since the first race I ever watched. As Kenny Wallace said on victory lane the other night, "we all know he is the best race car driver". I'm not a Rusty fan at all, I agree with B.G.O. on him. If Tony don't win it I'm rooting for Martin.

this is what i love about nascar. i can agree to disagree with ya'll and STILL enjoy a cold one @ the track. tony just might be the most talented one on the circuit - but he's a jerk. ya'll hit the nail on the head w/russell, he's a cry baby and always blames everrybody but himself. have never liked the 2 but always drank miller lite. now, with KB going to the 2 i had to make a decision - NO MORE MILLER LITE FOR ME!!! since i go to bristol every year, i have seen his talents but just can't stand him, ever since he had the deal j. spencer i've rooted against him.

BGO, what are saying about jeffy and mike bliss? how did i miss this? would have paid good $$ to watch ol' gordo punch somebody

I know what you mean, Miller Lite just doesn't taste the same as it did every since rubber head decided to take over. I'll now be exclusive with Coors Light.:D

A few weeks back after their run in, they met up in an airport and there was an altercation. Rumor has it one guy hit the other one and gave him a black eye, but no one said who threw and who received, but they interviewed Gordo a day or so later and he looked fine, but Bliss was no where to be seen. Got it off the Speed channel forums. Nothing was caught on tape, and it was hushed up real fast. Guess Bliss learned his lesson since Gordo got in to the back a few weeks later of Bliss and Bliss was not upset. Probably didn't want another black eye! ;) Kind of made me laugh, everyone thinks Jeffy is a wuss, but he will fool ya!

I hear ya on disagreeing, you can hate your best friends driver, but you can still enjoy a race together.

I work with a hard core KB and a hard core JJ fan. We are constantly giving each other hell. Like you said, its what makes the sport great. At least my wife has enough sense to root for Bobby Labonte, now there is a true race car driver and good person. I don't think I've ever heard anyone say a bad thing about him.

I'm a Stewart fan and darn proud of it. Seems to me that the old #3 used to do alot of the same things that #20 doe's. What's the difference? Maybe two different sets of standards. No need in getting jealous now, just because Smoke is on a roll. I would rather have a driver with passion, then without the passion. Good luck to all at Michigan. Even Rusty!!!!
