I live out on 76 past knifley right on the green river. I've noticed that you've taken some nice ones this year, wish I could show you the ones we've taken out here. I don't have a scanner. Have you ever hunted on the Green River WMA with bow or gun quota hunt? I teach school at Casey County now I used to work for Campbellsville Water co. for three years. Anyways nice to know that there is a few on this website that are in close proximity. I'll remember that for sharing some hunt info. Get bored sometime we may trade some hunts out.

Hey Raktrakr I used to hunt off a farm on 704 near Burkesville. It was Ricky Polston's farm. I hunted there when I went to college and needed money cutting tobacco for him. I believe he is no longer with us today though, someone told me he had a unfortunate accident. Awesome hunting there though. You might know Chad Bryant we hunted together back then. Anyways I live about a half a mile from Green River bridge off of 206 on river road. We white bass fish every year down there and have to compete with the Amish. Some days are better than others. As far as the hunting (deer) and turkey, I consider the area an untouched sanctuary. I'll show you some video sometime of what is in the area. It is as good as cumberland county. If you want e-mail me and we'll exchange info for this next season. As far as hunting on your father-n-law's land I totally understand. I had that problem until I graduated and I now am fortunate enough to have an overabundance of land to hunt on.(private) The thing is though I like to share what I have and make new contacts and hunting buddies.

Wow Massive Horns, I did some of my growing up right down the road from you. We lived on a farm behind Shepherd Elementary School.

Some friends and I used to ride our motorcycles around that area a lot. We used to take off down any dirt road that we thought would lead back to the river, thru people's fields, woods, whatever, and never think a thing about it. I can't even imagine doing that now. We used to catch some pretty good white bass. I don't think we ever used anything but Yellow Rooster Tails.

My parents moved back to Adair county a couple of years ago. In fact, my dad bought a tractor from a guy who lives in that area who deals with used farm equipment. Seems like the guy lived a couple of miles from the store there at Knifley.

That's some pretty country in that area.

Later,

Richard Burton, formerly of Burton Ridge.

massive horns I have been white bass fishing in that area for the last 20 years. I used to deer hunt quite a bit over there back before they changed it to a wma. I still turkey hunt some in the area. One reason that I don't deer hunt over there any more is because I have a private farm that has some really good dear on it. I saw an 8 pointer this year that will go at least 140 to 150. Saw it twice this year 1st time early ml season, to far away to shoot at. Then one week before gun season was hanging a stand and saw him cross a field and looked at him through binoculars. He was about 20 inches inside and G2's aat least 11 or 12 inches G3's real close to 10 inches. I said that wasn't going to shoot anything but him during gun season, but when another deer close to 140 walked within 10 feet of my stand on opening morning the temptation was to much. It only had a 15 inch inside spread, but 11 inch G2s and 10 inch G3s 3 sticker points and a drop tine that had been broken off, it was still a little over an inch though. I think that he made it through gun season but I am not postive. Haven't heard of anybody that killed one like it around there. Plus 2 years ago I killed an 8 point that scored 127 net,18 inch inside spread G2' 9 inches,G3'3 7 inches. The land owner does turkey hunt a little so I don't put to much pressure on the turkeys in the spring. He doesn't mind but he has let me hunt for the last 15 years so I try to let him have first chance at the turkeys. He only goes 3 or 4 days a year .

Hey raktrakr, I was at the Green River SP a couple of weeks ago when it was so cold with the snow on the ground. I saw 26 deer, sat and watched 15 of them for about 30 minutes. Massive horns that area that you live in is great for both turkey and deer. I've hunted and fished that area for years, caught some good fish out of the river. Killed a good turkey there last year. Have never killed a deer there but I know there is plenty of them around there and some are nice ones. By the way I live in Russell County about 12 to 15 miles from the bridge at the river on 206.

Just that it's going to happen. That's why we need to band together and stop the Auxier Flats Expansion.

Well I'll tell you, on those hard toms that have been called to over and over with owl hooters and crow calls, and especially on those windy days. Take an air horn and blow it just before daylight and you will shock the crap out of any wary gobbler. It works every time.
