Heavy Load Shells

I currently use an older Remington 12 guage, 2-3/4" semi automatic shotgun. It is equipped with a 30" full choke barrel. I have been advised that it is unsafe to shoot steel shot loads through this barrel for it could possibly result in damage to the barrel due to the choke.

Question:
Is it safe to shoot the new "Heavy Load" shells through this barrel. I'm interested in Remington's new Heavy Load (5 shot) for turkey hunting.
Any advice/comments are welcome.
