Sounds to me like the guy knew exactly what he was shooting at. I would also think it to be illegal to shoot anything at night and with a night vision scope. Fish and Wildlife possibly could have written a few citations as well on this incident.

A friend of mine got into a situation where his Gold Champion Grand Nite Champion Deep River Raid got shot off a tree by a drunk police officer while on a nite hunt cast in Ohio. I haven't found out if he collected anything, but Raid was a finalist in the PKC World Hunt, and was valued at well over $20,000.
