Any of you regular users out there that would be willing to be a moderator for one or more of the topics on here, please let me know. Basically, all it entails is monitoring the topic and deleting or moving any inappropriate posts. This really has not been a problem with the new discussion board - heck the only post that needed to be deleted so far was my own! Anyway, let me know if you are intersted.

Yeah, I was gonna say Brian, I havn't seen much hooha on here and the only one I can remember was yours. HAHAHA. Anyways, I'll help out. I assume you use the same rules and standards that the Bowsite uses? Let me know what I need to do. I usually am on here morning, midday and evening.
Thanks

MrBowhunter,
Do you have a specific Topic(s) that you want to moderate? Just let me know, and I'll get you set up. I appreciate the help - and the sarcasm<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

Brian,
I never thought about being topic specific. I figured it tells me when I log on what new topics there are and I would just take a moment and read through them. If we go site specific I guess, general, deer and turkey hunting, archery equipment, habitat imrovement and community.
Just let me know when you want me to start.

Brian, you can through me in also...I usually visit most all topics...Pick the ones you want me to watch...I take a little more time watching the F & W Questions topic and think I would be a little heavy handed in removing and redirecting some posts to get this topic back to what it was intended for ...If I remember correctly you originally put this topic on for question and answer only and not for personal debate....I'd love to watch this topic to make sure it gets back to this...

Alright guys, I appreciate the help. I will get you all listed as moderators. I'm having to figure out just how the moderating works. As administrator, I can move around or delete anything, as well as change all the settings. I'm not sure how this works for moderators, but I should have it figured out today.

OK, I see how it works now. As a moderator, when you go to a topic that you are listed as a moderator for, there will be a series of small icons on the right side of every post.
1) Clicking on the "padlock" locks the topic, so that noone else can contribute to it.
2)Clicking on the pencil allows you to edit the post - either remove cuss words, move the post to a different topic, etc.
3) Clicking on the garbage can deletes the post and all the replies.
You also have the capability if you just want to remove/edit one of the replies and not the whole thread.
Just dont use any of the icons to the right of the Topic itself (like Waterfowl Hunting, for example), because that effects the whole topic, not just the posts (so if you hit the "garbage can" icon next to the Waterfowl Hunting topic, it will completely remove the waterfowl hunting forum).
If you do have any questions or have any trouble with it, just let me know and I'll see what I can do to help.

Brian - I'll be a moderator if you want. Any of the topics will be OK. It's been awhile scince I've seen anything that was out of line. A few topics seem to be misplaced but not too many have been worhy of removal, in my opinion.
I'm also wondering why the topic concerning Johnathon Day was removed. I never saw anything out of line there, unless it would have been Coyote's post of the last few days. The topic, as it was started, was a legitiment question that needed to be answered. The two original posters said nothing that a lot of others didn't want asked.
I agree that the hiring looks fishy, at least on the surface. I was hoping that the dept. would establish a "come up through the ranks" policy on these top positions. Let them hire these experts in the field for some of the entry positions, and work their way to the top.
Can a topic be moved instead of being deleted all together?

Hey Multi, I'll put you down as a moderator. I removed the "Jonathan Day" post because 1) It was somewhat inflamatory towards both Jon Gassett and Jonathan Day, and 2) I said some things that didn't need to be aired in a public forum, and should have instead been discussed with those involved in private. If you want to discuss something of this nature (in a way that does not personally attack someone), then that's fine - just not under "Fish & Wildlife" topic. That topic is strictly supposed to be for legitimate questions for Roy and others to answer. I don't want to ruin the access we have to some of the Dept. personnel just so that we can give them grief at every opportunity. They provide us invaluable information for nothing in return. I didn't delete the recent topic that included "Coyote", I just moved it over to the Community forum. I am really going to start monitoring what goes in the "Fish & Wildlife" forum.

Hey Brian, do you happen to have a questionaire you may want us to take in order to determine who should be a moderator. My point is, although I don't think many here are, some could ask to do this for their own hidden agenda. Having access to a tool like this is pretty important and can cause as many problems as are resolved. I also think those you choose should be kept anonymous for obvious reasons. I'll answer any questionaire you may want to give out. You may also want to inquire with Pat Lefemme from the Bowsite on how he determined who were moderators. Of course the PA bowsite is a much more intense site and can get into many many arguments. Then there's always the good ole boys who have what I like to call 10 beer posts where they are good people but fire off at others when they start to drinkin. Lot's of fun to play with those guys but heck to pay next time ya run into them.
P.S. Love the bumper sticker and the wife is working on a design for another one.

Several people wondering why part of UBK Prez's response to some of the comments regarding the organization were edited out?

The only part of the UBK prez's post I edited out were those comments directed towards Big58. I also deleted Big58s reply. I emailed them both and told them what I had done and asked them to please discuss this amongst themselves. I don't want to play censor on this site, but when its a strong personal disagreement between two people with no real relevence to this site, then it needs to be resolved privately between the two involved. Hope that clears things up, and I hope no ones feelings were hurt by what I done.

Thanks Brian, for the UBK explanation, I was wondering about this myself and agree fully. I would help if I spent more time here but with my work being what it is I never know when I can be on or off.
