Smells that take me back to the old days:

1. Burnt powder
2. Rain on hot pavement
3. Tobacco barns
4. When a lake turns over in the fall
5. Damp basements
6. That perfume Sharon H. wore in college (!)

Its funny how a smell can hit you so hard you almost go back in time.

Burnt powder smells purty good.I used to pick up freshly shot shotgun shells and sniff em. A good campfire with taters and bacon frying and a big pot of coffee is hard to beat also. The 1 thing I can`t get enough of is gas fumes and hot rubber at a nascar race. Wish someone would bottle that smell up as an air freshner..LOL.

I love that smell. You should be on a firing line of about 200 troops, that really fills the air with some smoke!

Are you talking about your wife or nitrox's wife? :D Just kidding, don't want to start any fights. I think smells can take you back and songs can too. Seems like there are a few songs I'll hear constantly during deer season, and then a few years later you'll hear a station play it again out of the blue and you'll remember everything about that season's hunt. Aahhh, the memories.

I don't know, the inisde of an M-1 tank after you have fired several rounds down range starts to smell pretty good. Nothing like firing a 10 lb pointed projectile at 1500 meters/sec down range. The concussion, recoil, dust, grime, grit, sweat, BO, and propellant residue all at the same time make some really nasty smells.

This only applies if the tank gunner has on clean underwear though, since he is "Azz" is directly under the tank commanders knees, and sometimes, some strange smells have wafted up through the TC hatch.

I just plain like the smell of the woods when you're sitting in the stand. The scent of wet leaves, pine on the breeze, whiff of deer piss rising from your scent rag, and the smell of a big ol' rutty buck you just loaded in the back of the truck.

You guys are weird to say the least. What about smell of the air on a foggy morning as you sit beside the lake in your treestand about 30 feet up as the acorns fall, sounding almost like rain on leafs.
What the smell of a ruttingbuck chasing a doe under your treestand about 15 minutes after you get there?
How about the smell of vension tenderloin grilling on the grill with onions and green pepper, mushrooms and John Boy & Billy's grilling sauce while you tell the story of that big buck that came through under your stand???
Now that's the kind of things you need to think about.
