I been fishing the river pretty steady now for the last 2 months and cant seem to find any big fish. I fish from a boat and use mainly shad and skip jack. I was just wanting to know if anybody has been catching any big fish and what part they are fishing and what they been using.

went some last summer and didnt catch much til one night. We caught a 15 lb. and 2-35lb. We also caught a gar or two. We used bluegill with there tails cut off for bait and hook them in the back just below the spiked fin. we fish the stretch between ashland and huntington westvirginia

Good luck

Right now is the time (or past time) to nail the BIG ones noodling, probably have few days left to do it.

As for catching the bigger cats, they are just now starting off nest. Should be picking them up soon.

Do the best in areas where streams and creeks join up with the river

I'm going this weekend and hopefully the big boys will be hitting. I'm going to try some stink and cheese baits. Have a lot of trouble with gars using live or cut bait where i fish below the Greenup lock. I caught my two biggest cats on creek shiners afew years back. they are the best bait I've ever used for flatheads, but they are hard get out of the creeks and they don't stay live very long.

This year we jus havent been ale to find any big fish we are going to try the creeks tommorow. Im goona see if i can get some chubs, warmouth, and some pumpkinseeeds. Maybe that will bring the big cats to biting.

We fished last Sun. and this past Sun. and we tore em up. We caught the biggest this past Sunday. About every other cast with a jerk bait slowly cranking it in would land one but we couldnt hardly ever get them to the bank. We were wading out about 50 or 60 yards. When you catch one, it would come to the top and roll over and over and you could try to walk towards the bank but they would either break 17lbs test, straighten the hook, or break the hooks. We landed a few 10 pounders, but the 40 or 50s we just couldnt handle.

I fish with this young man and he mignt catch a nice fish if he keeps lettin the big ones get off. I take him to my favorite spot below Tanners Creeck in Indiana, and lets at least a 20 pounder get off at the boat. Just givin him a hard time. He is right though no big fish. Just some nice channels and small blues. Any one fishin around Tanners now? Thinkin about goin back soon. Please keep me informed so HerdBuckHunter and I can get on some nice fish. Feel free to PM me anytime.

It's just below Uniontown Ky on the Ohio River in Western Ky. They caught 9 the other day and it was 150lbs of fish.

We went to a small lake that's a few hundred yards from the Ohio River yesterday afternoon. We caught 10 catfish from around 6 till about 8 pm. None of them were very big. The biggest one may have weighed 2 pounds. We also caught three crappie.
