I have a couple of questions about Greenbo Lake State Resort Park,
My family and another family are planning to visit the SRP this upcoming weekend, and we are wondering if it is a pretty good place to go,
for a small 2 night getaway for 2 families,
we are really mainly looking for the children to have some quality enertainment, such as swimming, fishing, maybe some paddle boats, and something along that order,
and does the park have a nice resort to stay at?

does anyone here live close to Greenbo, or someone who has visited there could give me some info?

Thanks

Jblack,

I see you live in Somerset, so you'll be coming I-64 east to the Grayson exit, which is where I live. Greenbo is nice, with a good lodge and fine dining room. They have a good fishing lake, pool, playground equip, but not a whole lot more. My suggestion would be to save yourself the last hours drive and go to Carter Caves SRP, which is exit 161 (2nd Olive Hill exit). The lodges and dining are the same (Carter Caves has new 2 bedroom cabins if that interests you), but they have so much more...a decent 9 nine hole golf course, horseback riding, mini golf, great walking trails, a good fishing lake plus canoeing on Tygarts Creek, public and lodge pool, and of course the caves. There are caves for beginers through experts, guided and unguided. If you go to Carter Caves you'll be about 12 miles west of my home, and if you stay at Greenbo, you'll be about 20 miles north, so if you need more info send me a PM. Remember, both counties (Carter & Greenup) are dry so if you want any drinks, you'll need to bring them with you. Morehead (exit 137) is the last exit on I-64 that's wet.
