I got my tattoo about a year ago. I never had it touched up anf I went back to Tattoo Charlie's yesterday and they said it would be $30 to go over it again. I was under the impression it was free? It's just a simple cross with my sons name over it all in black. I have heard from some people that Tattoo Charlie's isn't the best place to go, but that was after I got inked. Thoughts? Should I ask them to do it for free?
Never heard of them doing anything for free personally....unless of course they screwed it up to begin with. Although Tattoo Charlies is IMO one of the best places to go. I have met him several times and you can bet they are one of the cleanest places in the state.
I'm surprised you need to touch it up already though...is it just faded or what?

I got my first tatoo at Charlie's. I went back after it healed to have a couple of black areas touched up, they were missed during initial inking. They did not charge me for the touch up. I would guess it your problem was either waiting too long or it was faded, which they would not cover for free. As far as where to go, Charlies is meticulous about sanitation and do wonderful work. My second tatoo came from Renegades in Radcliffe. They also are very clean and do great work. You can get cheaper 'toos, but for the quality and cleanliness, I will spend the extra bucks. If I were you, I would put out the extra $30 for the touch up and just not wait so long if you need a new one touched up in the future.

Ok. Thanks for the input. It still looks really good, it just has a few really small dead spots where it scabbed and peeled off. You can't really see it unless you know where to look. I'm going back at noon for the touchup.
