squirrel / rabbit season

i was squirrel hunting one day and had some rabbits run in front of me and stop. was going to shot them but wasn't shure with it was legal to do, never heard of a rabbit permit. but was i able to shot them and not get in trouble?

No special permit need, just a valid license and make sure they are in season.
