I myself haven't been real close (30 yards) to a gobbler but my friend had several hens come within 10 feet from him...and I know Grant has been close to a couple, just look at the pics of his kill and his brothers, the face is mangled.

i had a hen walk within 3 feet of my boots...she wouldnt leave she was convinced that another hen was there...thats fun to witness for about 5-10 min then those aches, pains, urges to cough start to hit you...
I would have to say that the closest bird this year would have to be skin_dog's last bird. 10-15 yards.

Believe it or not.....Took my son on his first hunt this year and we used a blind. The birds (7 hens & 2 gobblers) flew down and came to us right at the corner of the blind and we could not get a shot. Then they were too close to move once they passed the corner. The strutting gobbler was approximately 2 feet from my son. I could see the little hairs on his head, his snood moving and see him blink his eyes. He gobbled right beside us and took a swing with his wing at the other gobbler right beside the blind. Thought he was going to blow my hat off! LOL! Closest I have ever been. We didn't get him (missed) but my son shot a jake later that morning. Any experience I will never forget. Hopefully, he's hooked for life!

I had a hen brush up the side of my blind this year and then had one about 5 feet in front of me. That is really neat when they get up close. Now I need to figure out how I can get the deer that close so I can take one with my pocket knife:D .

The closest i had one this year was only a hen, but she was 7-10 yards from me.... (that afternoon, i tagged out). It was the last weekend of turkey season on a saturday.

We had 2 birds close this year, one my brother took opening day, and my first for the year. My brothers bird was 15 feet or so, mine was no more than 10 feet. When I shot mine, I had a jake some through a few seconds before that was probably 5 feet.

OK, That picture was Digusting! :-)
We had a struttin Tom 5 yards off the right side of the blind during youth season. Then too much comotion in the blind scared him off.
The bearded hen I killed in IN walked by the left side of my blind at 4 yards, walked around in front where I took her at 23 yards.
The Tom I finally killed in KY only got to within 48 yards before he died of an accute case of lead poisoning! :-)

Well its not a Turkey but I had a bird land on my boot and walk up my gillie and try to pick off the pieces of it at about my knees. And for the Turkeys....well, lets just say that two of them got close enough.

About 25 steps...while I was in the truck the day after the season closed. I had been after this bird all season. He just stood there looking at me then walked off slowly into the woods with his beard dragging the ground:( He had 5 hens with him.
