I bought a Primos Jellyhead for my Benelli Nova and the thing works great but I went to remove it because I an done for the season and it won't come out. The Choke will completely unscrew and freely slides out about a half inch. After that the choke progressively gets tighter and tighter and sticks. I had a gunsmith look at it and he seems to think that the lower end has expanded just enough that it will not clear the threads. I have contacted Primos and they are working with me. Does anyone have any suggestions or has this happened to anyone else.
by the way the Jellyhead is rated for heavy shot but the only load I have shot through it is Winchester supreme 3.5 no. 6's lead.

It sounds like the choke may have a "peened" end on it. Some where along the line it wasn't screwed in tight or an edge was left when "they" cut the threads. This may sound silly but have you tried twisting and pulling at the same time? I had a Mossberg choke do the exact same thing to me. Not only was mine peened but it wasn't round anymore. The gunshop I bought the choke from replaced mine for free...

If you can free the threads then spray a bunch of 'Remoil' or something similar down the barrel with the barrel pointed down. Let it sit on the barrel for about 5 minutes. Then get a pair of channel locks with some leverage, and pull straight out from the barrel. Make sure not to clamp down on the choke threads. This will get it out. I had a Browning 10 ga. that did the same thing last duck season.

Customer service is when they come to your house and get it. I call what you are experiencing a pain in the butt.

Thats odd. It must be a defect with the choke as I have the same exact setup and it works fine.

I think I'll have to agree.

Sometimes you can heat the barrel and this will enable the choke to come out. But, I would use this as a last resort. Good luck.

Sounds like you could get a free gun, choke, and accesories. If Primos is that interested and wants to see the gun, sounds like they don't want this story to get out. Just my 2 cents, hope you get it out..

Either that or they want to blame it on the gun.. ;)

Since Benelli chokes are threaded at the muzzle end instead of the breech end, it probably is the choke and not the gun.
I agree, sounds like there is a burr or peen at the end of the choke, probably from the choke being loose at some point or too much of a step from the barrel ID to where it meets the choke.
I guess they could have bored and tapped the barrel off axis though where it made the choke not aligned.
Be interesting to find out what it is.
How many rounds did you put through it?
