Tresspassers??????

i usually encounter a few on some of the farms i hunt..which is sometimes understandable,,but its those repeat offenders that gets your blood boiling

what is the punishment by law if a trespasser is cited?

im considering some legal actions

Well, where I hunt to owner has it as "Trespassers Will be prosecuted". I ran into some the other day when I was turkey hunting. The owner is kind of roughneck, so I'm sure he wouldn't be lenient on them. The farmer that I hunt, gave me permission to tell them to leave. Ask if the owner will let you do the same. Watch your back though. Some people are down right ruthless when you tell them to leave the property! Tell them you are going to call the law if they do not leave.

I have to deal with them every year. Went home this weekend to hunt and someone had driven a truck and 4 wheeler through one of our hay field's. How damn stupid can you be??? People wonder why you won't let them hunt.

Caught one calling the weekend between youth and the opener. Couldn't get a CO to respond, or a sheriff. I know the guy and we're thinking about sueing in small claims court for the yearly membership dues? Don't have a clue if I could colect or not, but it's something we might try on a guy that makes a game out of coming on our side of the line.

Sunday I went hunting with a buddy on his brother-in-laws place. Had a lady ride up to us on a horse accompanied by a dog. She sees us does a double take and says.....are you guys hunting, am I in any danger? I about lost it, I told her she didn't look much like a turkey to me, so I didn't think she was..... she made some small talk and rode off the property. My buddy says it happens all the time. His b-in-l 's place is surrounded by highdollar mini-farms and people think they can just come over and ride or walk on the place. He was going to mention it to his brother in law that we ran into her...

I caught a guy hunting from the road yesterday morning. He took off when I came after him. I did get the licence # and found out who it was. The CO was familiar with him, he had several complaints about the same man. The guy apparently hunts from several of the back roads, where he has no permission. What a low life:mad:

Opening day of modern gun season last year (1st year in 6 that I got to hunt) I pull in to my grandmothers house at about 9pm and hear hounds and gunshots on the back of our land. My brothers and I jump in vehicles and go and find them. We found them 10 yards from my stand with a treed coon and the hounds just going nuts. After about 30 minutes of an unending cussing session (Paris Island style) from me (about how they ruined my first hunt in 6 years), the older own says, and I quote, "well you can come hunt on my land, I have about 400 acres that has all kinds of deer on it." We called the sheriff and Game Warden. They cited them, which requires appearance before a judge. In the end it cost these 2 about $450 each. The GW said that for the judge to give them the max the land owner needs to either show up or write the court, most judges give the minimum and let them on their way. I asked those guys if they knew who owned the land, niether of them did, didn't even know where to go to ask for permission. I don't care if you are bird watching, you need to ask. Ok I am done B1tching.

Don't blame you. Bitch all you want. You can't have anything (property rights) anymore for stuff like that. I love to coon hunt, but that's one thing about it that worries me, where's the dog going to go? Of course, if he went on someone else and I couldn't call him back, I'd just get him and get out of there. I usually do the coon hunting in Harlan County on old coal or timber property where you could go a long ways and not be on anyone else. And, of course, around deer season the last thing I'm thinking about is hunting coons. I'm glad you did what you did. Do you mind if I ask you which Judge it was?

I truly don't know the judges name. I will have to find out though. If they had been just collecting there dogs, that would have been fine. But they had opened a gate, driven in and parked. They almost lost some dogs that night. I was through the roof mad. These guys were unreal, didn't understand why I was so mad, thought I was in the wrong and over reacting. Ok so I might have overreacted a little. Ask Philpothunter (my brother), I am sure he will portray me that night in a different view than I remember.:D
