Since the board is pretty dead I just thought I'd try to flame some discussion on stud dogs. So, if you were breeding a female, what would you go breed to? I'll list each of my female and my few favorite choices, you do the same...

1. Josie (NITECH PCH Wipeout Zack (Moose) x PCH GRNITECH Pine Ridge Chic
This female is owned together by Tyler Hart and I. If I were breeding her, I'd probably go with one of these in no particular order...

1. GRNITECH Nocturnal Nitro
2. GCH GRNITECH Skuna River Fred
3. SCH GRNITECH Rat Attack
4. GRNITECH Abbott's Yadkin River Cruise
5. GRNITECH Bennet Springs All Grand Track Man.
6. PCH GRNITECH Flatrock Thrasher
7. GRNITECH Stylish Harry Jr.

2. Roxy Black and Tan (GRNITECH Clear Creek Rocker x NITECH Ky.River Chigger)

1. Artifically to PCH GRNITECH Dark Hollow Hobo's Hoss
2. Artificially to GCH GRNITECH Nelson's Northern Rex
3. GCH GRNITECH Bauer's Kansas Junior
4. GRNITECH Bad to the Bones Cane
5. GRNITECH Davis' Black Luke

For some people that may be true, but the only SS Sire "local" to me (that I know will throw tree dogs) is Nocturnal Nitro. Some people don't mind if a stud dog isn't super staked, but I prefer it. With the exception of Fred and Trackman, I've hunted with dogs directly off of the ones mentioned, and I liked what I saw. However, I have hunted with a dog off another stud and Fred's mother. It was nice too.

As far as Black and Tans go, I haven't found one I care much about that wasn't heavy bred in Johnny and Bruce Gilliams hounds, either Tige or Old Hoss (now dead). Not saying they aren't out there, I know they are. I've just not personally hunted with one.

I got a pup out of Johnny and Bruce's Tige and Blaise Bauer's Kansas Jewell female thats about 5 months old. He acts real good right now to be so young. Everything I've had out of Hoss or Tige would get and stay hooked. A friend of mine whose a Black dog guy had a Meyer's bred pup but it died young. I was wanting to know how it would turn out.

KSBA RES. World Nt. NKC NT. CH. CH. Sq. CH BN CH BIG Strutt

He belongs to Jamie Woods.

I have comp hunted this dog for Jamie and he is the real deal. He is a reproducer too....

I have a nice Kemmer male that would be a good dog to breed to myself.
Greg's Little Bo. He can wind a coon as good as anydog i have hinted with. Is a good Hard no trash stay put treedog.

Sounds like you have got yourself some good curs. A good one is hard to beat! I'll get in touch with you in a few days, once I get my college finals over with. I'd like to hunt with a good dog for a change! lol.

Seriously, My Mt. Cur male Smilin Jack will and does show up a lot of hounds he hunts with. I think it's his hunting style more than anything. He is what I call a coondog that will tree squirrels too. Meaning he hunts better at night and will tree squirrels in the daytime. He is still mouthed and sneeks up on coons were as an opened mouth hound will push the coon. Also he is a bit more cold nosed than most curs that I've hunted. Each to his own, but if I were to breed my female it would be to Cold Creek Jack in Ky, or Prater's JR in TN.

Does he live up around Berea? I believe I've heard a buddy of mine who is a black and tan man talk about Harold before. I think he said he ran a fencing company too, is this the same guy?

Shannon

I didn't buy her. I don't know where she went. I'd say just talk to the man who had her up for sale and he will know.

I bought that Clyde dog from Scott Stewart, but Jim Kannard wanted him more than me.

He is probably a great dog, but down here in thin coons I needed a dog that can punch a hole in the dark and get hooked. I simply could not get him to hunt for me.

If your dog is just decent, I need to feed mine a lead pill! She'll get her mouth open and get hooked.

While on the topic of breeding females, I highly recommend Clear Creek Rocker. I got a pair of young dogs that are coming on right now. It doesn't hurt that the mother is out of Tige and Holloways Tenn. Blk Chigger either.

I like the gilliams stuff alot. I like Junior's pedigree to enough to have purchased a pup out of Kansas Jewell's last litter, a cross between her and Tige. He's about 5.5 months old right now, and his pedigree is real similar to Juniors. Hopefully he'll make that nice of a hound. He sure is a good looking sucker.
