Dont give up man!! I missed 2 times, but also got 2 birds!!! This year has been great for me....
Sounds to me like someone gets a little trigger happy. Be patient and don't rush things. We all get excited, but just relax and let things fall into place instead of rushing and regretting.

What gun and shot load are you using with what choke?

Yep, be patient, don't need to shoot as soon as you see them. More fun the longer you watch them anyway!

I missed one, too, Sunday. Been there 30 minutes with my boy. Called it in. Never made a sound. I wasn't the least bit excited. Took my time. Careful.....boom! Missed. Single-shot, so that was that. Still trying to shake it off, because I haven't killed one yet. I think I'll take a vacation day this week for one more try.

I know why i missed the first time... Dad and i snuck up on the birds... there was about 10 hens, and 5 gobblers. The gobbler never saw us, but the hens had us made. The gobbler that was closest to me was behind a tree. I made a loud noise with my mouth call, he gobbled, i let 'er fly. After watching the same group of gobbler for a few days after that, i realized that they gobbled different than most birds. They did not fully extend their heads, and their gobbles werent long. When i shot, he was probably pulling his head back. And i missed the second bird because of the position i was in, i wasnt comfortable at all. I know it wasnt my gun (Benelli Nova 12ga. 3" winchester supreme double X mag #5shot.) I shot a bird dead at 40 yards. I shot him, and he flipped over backwards and didnt flop. Everyone misses sometime!!!
