How many of you have seen more jakes than usual this year? I only saw one all last season. This year I am absolutely covered up with them. I was just wondering if this is a local thing or widespread? Hope all are seeing more than usual, that would mean next year we would have a ton of 2 year olds to chase!

I've only seen 3 all season. 2 were together walking down a road in Butler county. The other crossed the road 30 yards from me while I was waiting on cornbread to take a crap in the woods. I would've found it really funny had that jake walked up on him while he was handling his business! The jake never knew I was there. I was standing in the middle of the road next to my truck.

I've seen more this year than last, especially the month or so leading up to the season opening. Next year should be a loud one.

Saw 11 Jakes opening morning & let them all walk. Then I remembered I had been sitting there for almost 4 hours...... & just let a whole bunch of legal turkeys walk away. I called 7 of them back in one group & shot the largest one & went home. Yes, good numbers of jakes in my area of Northern KY.

Sounds exactly like my first morning hunt. I saw 12 jakes in all and killed one of them after calling them back. Taking tomorrows trophies today!

Hunting in the east, my observations so far are more jakes than toms but, have not seen much of either. A lot less noise out of the mature birds this year compared to last, this could also be an indicator of more jakes in the woods.

I have yet to see my first jake this year in Boone county. Every tom that I have seen has had at least a 6 inch beard, and I have seen several on my property. I don't know if this is good or bad yet. However I did harvest my largest bird ever this year with a muzzleloader and that was fun.

Never thought i'd say this, but the jaspers are all over me! Seen more jakes this year than in 16 years combined. I have let more legal birds walk by me this than ever. Really goes against what is the very essence of my being as a hunter. With just 5 days to go, they r lookin more& more tasty.

I have been hunting in Clay Co. A lot of jakes being heard this season, more than the previous years. One came in with the other 3 toms I called in.
