I set up on a Tom this mornin and he wouldn't budge(imagine that). Repositioned several times. Last set-up here come 7 jakes, one with a dang big noggin. Anyways, i ain't heard the tom in about 25 minutes after he had been gobblin purty decent, so i got to messin with the jaspers. Love to whisper to them. Really messes with thier head. If u talk in normal voice, they ease out lookin over thier shoulder, but whisper to them and they get all confused. Downright hilarious to me. Anywho, while i had distracted myself pickin on the youngsters i hear the ole dreaded, sounding like two 2x4's slapped 2gether, you know, the POP:eek: i glance over and at 30yds was big boy. Im caught! He simply turns and vanishes and is quickly behind a brushpile:mad: Moral of the story? Stay focused:rolleyes:

that story is just to funny. I've never heard of whisperin to jakes. sorry bout the big one that got away. I had 4 jakes come to me this mornin and after they could'nt find the hen they walked into the woods and started fighting it was the loudest racket i've ever heard.

I've heard of a horse whisperer but never a turkey whisperer!! That's a great story. We've all lost our focus before. A few days ago I put out my decoy and got set up and not long after that 6 deer came feeding across an open field. I relaxed and watched them because I hadn't started calling yet. Then I looked at my decoy and a big tom was checking it out and then checked me out. Needless to say, I was busted! Another lesson learned!

I don't think we'll ever learn all of our lessons out there, and I'm perfectly happy with that. Might suck when it happens, but good stories and memories, and keeps the hunt alive.
