lets get a poll of who we all are so that way we can all understand whos on the other side of the wall. Include a good idea of where you live, what you hunt for, what weapon you use, how often you hunt and how much game you take a year.
I'm Scott Hogan. I support the xbow and believe game harvest should be by quota and not by weapon.
I live in Finchville Kentucky. I hunt mostly private land.
I deer hunt with a gun 2-4 days a year I take 1 deer
I try to turkey hunt 2-4 days a year with shotgun and I have never taken a turkey or had one come with in sight.
I use to bow hunt maybe 20 outings per year (an outing is a morning or evening) wounded two deer and never harvested one , and no shots on turkeys ever presented. My public land hunting is limited to about 2-3 days a year and is usually squirrel.

i'm randy grider i'm not a big fan of x-bows,compounds or inlines, but i'm not going to boo someone for using them. harvest by quota also
i live in harrodsburg, and hunt mostly my 40 acre farm.
i bow hunt only,(longbows, recurves)and take 1 deer per year, sometimes 2,for the last 8 years.prior to that was gun hunting
i have no turkeys, but would hunt them if i had 'em.
i hunt probably 20 outings a year here at home, and usually a couple of 3 day hunts with friends at a ky WMA. never harvested a deer anywhere but at home.one of my goals is a WMA deer and a bow turkey.

Schuyler Olt, Louisville. This is my 45th hunting season and just turned 49. I hunt way more than I should, and I'm eat up with muskie fishing. Former state chapter president of the NWTF, founding board member of Kentucky Hunters for the Hungry, past president of the Louisville Ronald McDonald House, member of the Governor's Smart Growth Task Force and chair of the Kentucky Progress Committee.
I have a turkey grand slam and took the #2 highest scoring typical turkey in Kentucky, 15th nationally as of a couple months ago.
I hunt with a bow, sidehammer muzzleloader (deer and squirrels), rifle, pistol and shotgun. I don't own a xbow but have nothing against them--I just think the new season is way too long. Nothing against inlines, either. I just enjoy the old timey feel of the sidehammer.
I have one big deer on the wall and no real desire to kill another one, so I'll leave them for you guys. However, I strongly support QDM.
Hobbies include playing bluegrass guitar and mandolin, cooking and flying airplanes.

John J. Simpson (joey or john), North Port, Florida formerly Benton, Ky and Pickerington, Oh (plus some Navy time). Retired police sergeant. God willing will hit 59 this year. Have hunted since about 1958. I am very politically active and have my current U.S. Senator, U.S. Representative, Florida Senator, and Florida Representative bookmarked in my e mail. They NEVER have to guess my position on any 2nd Ammendment or hunting issue.
I hunt turkey, deer, squirrels and waterfowl. One deer a year is plenty. Usually get out to hunt at least 45 days per year, probably more when I lived in KY. Turkey is the passion, everything else is just for fun. My choice of weapons is IMHO irrelevant especially on this thread. The choice will be one that complies with the current state regulations. No matter how this Kentucky xbow decision comes out I will be buying a xbow. Maybe now just for spite but certainly to use on my fall Ohio trips. I may never hunt KY again. A TN non-resident license will get me access to the south half of LBL and Ft. Campbell. That will be enough. This current KY situation is leaving a bad taste in my mouth and I've still got the feeling a "back door" deal has been struck to make this embarrassment go away. Whether or not I choose to hunt KY again this xbow issue, early in, became one for all hunters to take note of.
Nothing has got under my skin more (in recent memory) than the KY xbow issue. The actions of the UBK and their cronies is probably the MOST selfish bunch of drivel I've ever seen on a hunting issue. This is from one that saw first hand the anti-hunting groups attack on both Ohio trapping and Ohio dove seasons during state wide voter referendums. When, not if, bowhunting is attacked the UBK can stand proud that their comments will be used against them and all other hunters. Quite a price to pay to try and remain elitist snobs.
I currently support the U.S. Sportsmans Alliance, NRA, NWTF (a bunch of wishywashys lately) and various political candidates. I hunt 100% public land in Florida, 99% private land in Ohio, and did hunt 99% public land in KY. The public land in KY was almost all under federal control, LBL, Ft. Campbell, Clarks River so I'm not the least bit ashamed to utter an opinion on this forum while being a non-resident. If those on the wrong side of the crossbow discussion don't think I'm a big jerk I haven't done my job. I'll be heading north this week to turkey hunt a north Florida National Forest and then up to Ohio for another hunt. The five days in between that I wanted to spend in LBL will be a write off this spring ($2.30 gas helps with that decision). I won't be online when the big KY commissioners meeting and decision takes place. Good luck to all. Time for another LONG internet break.

Dale here I hunt mostly in Spencer and Shelby Co. most of my hunting is split between public and private land but lately the land owner is letting so many people hunt that it is as bad as public. I use longbowand recurve mostly, but some gun hunting with customized HS Precision 300wsm, hunt with custom 480 ruger pistol, bow and shotgun for turkey, lucky enough to take two boar and a mtn lion in the last 12 months with a longbow. Took my first two turkey ever last year with shotgun, Jake and a Big Tom that is know mounted in my office. Don't think crossbows should be used for entire archery season because when I want to use a scope I shoot a pistol or rifle. Muzzleloader for deer, inline and hunt with it sometimes during regualar gun season as I do with a bow too. If we don't loose some of our archery time or bag limits because of crossbow then I can see my opinion changing. I shoot trad bows because I want to.

My name is Aaron Gillund I'm from Meade county and I am 23, been hunting for as long as I can remember and I have been bowhunting deer for 11 years now. I have hunted nearly everything there is to hunt in the state of kentucky I think? Besides ducks because it cuts into deer hunting. But my passion is deer and turkey. When deer hunting its bow only!(compound) And when turkey hunting it has been shotgun only(as of right now) I usually kill 2-3 sometimes four deer a year. I am against the Xbow issue being in for the entire bow season because I fear that it will be counter productive as far as the deer numbers go(but I don't care one way or another what you decide to hunt with!!!) I rarely ever get to hunt private land!!

My name is Tim Harris. I am from Eastern Kentucky. I am 39 yeasrs old. I hunt Carter County mostly. I have hunted from an early age. My father took me squirrel hunting when I was you and I have been going ever since. I now hunt deer and turkey. I deer hunt with bow, muzzleloader, rifle, and handgun. I Turkey hunt with shotgun. I have been bowhunting for 15 years. I am in favor of expanded crossbow season. The crossbow has been un justly "demonized" for years. Those who say that it will adversely affect our wildlife population should look to Ohio and Georgia for evidence to the contrary.
