Reading all this "tomorrow's the day, it's finally here, one more night to go" stuff is starting to work on my nerves. Am I the only one who lies awake in bed watching the ceiling fan spin only to drift off to sleep and wake up five minutes later to look at the alarm clock just to see how much longer it's going to be until I can crawl out of bed? Then while I am sleeping I'm having crazy dreams of waking up at 9:00am to find out that I've over slept and missed the first morning. Then around 2:00am in the morning, waking up in a cold sweat to run wide open to the bathroom and toss my cookies. Please tell me I ain't the only one....

There right with you. Last week I went scouting and could not sleep. I went to bed around 9pm and woke at 430 after waking each and every hour worried if I would over sleep. I wish everyone good luck and safety tommorow. And may God be with you and grant you the best hunt you have ever been on.

Good Luck to everyone and be SAFE. :p

Yep, do it every year. Left at 3am one year because I got tired of rolling around. 15 minutes later I was at my parking spot. Didn't have to worry about spooking birds that early!
I am there with you. I have already got that uneasy feeling in my stomach as we speak. I may have to go home sick.;)

I get torn up before every hunt and every time I hear a gobble. I'm just frustrated that I didn't get into this sport sooner (much more fun than deer hunting imho). Thanks to my buddy Kraig (see signature) who introduced me to this sport.

Spent many a sleepless night waiting on the alarm, but I have yet to blow chunks.
I'm hoping that getting up early to listen for birds will have be wore down enough that I will actually be able to get some sleep tonight.

I Get Nothing Ready Until The Day Before So I Will Have Something To Do That Keeps My Mind Busy. But I Still Get No Sleep, Like You Said Watching The Fan Go Round And Round. But God I Love It. :D

I hear ya. People always told me it was better than deer hunting (don't get me wrong, I still love to deer hunt), but the chase of turkey hunting is great. I also like to approach turkey hunting as a team sport.
I've worked 14 hour days 3 days in a row, and I still won't be able to sleep tonight...LOL

It was so bad last night, that I had a dream that 5 gobblers walked in my house while I was asleep and strutted around, and gobbled their heads off and I couldnt' find my gun to shoot any of them...I woke up looked under my bed and made sure my shotty was still there, looked over and saw one of my decoys and had to take a think twice about putting one in the chamber :D
I always like the fact I can't sleep, that way I get up early, and get a good breakfast, double check everything and head out!!

That ain't a bad idea abss.
It has gotten so bad some years I might not sleep an hour or two the night before --- SOOOOO, I will always take a tylenol PM and that does the trick till about 3 am and then I just get up anyway and fix a big breakfast and coffee -- then of course I get there and have to go in a bad way, so I end up running late as usual.

I was wondering how long it would take for someone to mention it. I take one before I go to bed and it definatly does the trick. I also have the problem of having to take a dump when I hit the woods. Lost many pair of underwear on opening morning! Good luck!

I am always excited the morning before season, any season.
On the topic of having to go as soon as I see the woods....I honestly thought I was the only one. I could go without eating for days I think and once I see the woods I would have to go #2.

I have an answer to the #2 problem. I've been doing it for a couple years now. I pack a 5 gal bucket in the back of the truck and a wad of grocery bags behind the seat along with a roll of tp. I would rather sit in the bed of my truck on a bucket with a bag in it and do my business than hunker and try to miss my bibs in a bed of poison ivy. Just make sure no one is comming down the road before you start. Folks tend to stare when they drive by and see a man taking a class 1 download in the bed of his truck.

Just watch out for the straps on your bibbs when you take a dump. You know the story -- my friend once pulled down the bibbs and did not get the straps out of the way. Everytime he looked left there was a smell to remind him to move the staps next time he took a dump. LOL!!!

Been up since 3 am today. Went and listened. Liked what I heard. Hopefully I'll crash by 9pm get up at 3 again and be in the woods for my 2 mile walk by 4am.
Have overslept and woke up at 5 many times before, but still been able to get em gobbling and take care of business.
Best wishes for a safe and prosperous hunt to all.

You evidently don't have what i call, the Pike syndrome:o That is, the closer you get to where you park to hunt, the worse your pain get's:eek: At first when u leave the house, u kinda think that perhaps u shoulda took a dump b4 headin out the door. Then about halfway there, it's get's in a shot or two of pain(gas) in your lower abdomen, then u start thinking that you will be gettin there soon, and at this point, it begins bearing down somethin awfull. Hell, u may have to lock it up and go in the road but alas u pull into your spot and barely get it into park and your out of the truck:D
Anyway, i get tore up weeks b4 the start and strangely, calm down the day b4.

I usually dont get any sleep at all. Every 5-10 minutes, ill roll over and look at the alarm clock. On occasion, ill fall asleep for 30min-1 hour. And when i do get to sleep, im dreaming about them turkeys. Sure cant wait till tomorrow afternoon when i get to hunt! Good luck to all going in the morning!
