I have a new Nova pump. I have patterned it with the full choke, and I think it needs to be tighter for turkeys. I have done a few searches, and there are a whole lot of chokes on the market now. What is good, what isn't, what will give me the best product for my dollar.

Seems I have read that with turkey shells, there is no real advantage to shooting the 3 1/2s over the regular 3 inch shells. What are some opinions on that? I have friends that shoot 4s, 5s, and 6s. Thanks for any suggestions.

Thanks, Tim. Do u have a url for that, or does a sponsor here sell them? So, u like the 3.5" 5s in Winchester, huh? Thanks. Is this what you're talking about? http://www.discounttreestands.com/detail.asp?PRODUCT_ID=KGT

I have the Nova. I shoot the 3.5" HV win #6's and a XXX comp-n-choke. I tried the XX too and shot fed and win shells in both tubes. The second best was the 3" HV win #6's The third best was the 3" HV win #5's. I guess my gun likes the win shells. The fed shells were about 25% worse than a compable win HV shell. I shot both the HV and normal heavy loads. I shot most of the left over fed shells at crows. Expensive testing but I think it was worth it for the confidence in my gun. Took to 23-24# birds last year at 35 and 45 yards. Dropped them down hard. Great gun for turkeys.

I shoot a Benelli Super Black Eagle with the standard full choke that comes with the gun, Fedral 31/2" copper plated #4's. I'm 4 for 5 years getting a bird. Never missed a bird I shot at. The longest shot I took was 43 yards, and killed the tom with one shot.

I have to say that my setup is pretty darn close to Tim's. I shot a Benelli SBE with Kick's Gobbling Thunder and am very satisfied with the results! The only shell I use for turkeys these days is Winchester Supreme ( just seem to hit harder than the rest!). My SBE likes the #5 shot best, so that's what I carry into the woods.
