On Sunday, April 2, 2005, five illegally poached wild turkeys were found on property belonging to Cottonmouth Lodge on the Greens Chapel Road in Muhlenberg County. There were four "jakes" (juvenile males) and one adult gobbler. Several concerned sportsman from the area have offered a $450.00 reward for the information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons that committed these violations. Contact any area conservation officer with information or call the 24 hour Poacher Hotline at 1-800-25-ALERT.

the investigating officer told me they were shot, but didn't elaborate further

Eveidently, someone was pretty hot at these people. I dont think a poacher looking for meat would do that. 4 jakes... thats 4 more 2 year olds next year gobbling their fool heads off!! Thats a painful sight to see...

most poachers aren't out for meat! They either want bragging rights or just out to kill! Seeing as how these were just left to lay, I'd say someone likes the feeling of killing!Eveidently, someone was pretty hot at these people. This is definatly an act of revenge for whatever reason. These a**holes went to all the trouble to make sure the birds were found so its obvious the club or someone at the club has P'd somebody off!

That last pic almost looks like they were breasted out. I agree, it's probably someone with an axe to grind against the lodge.
The truly sad thing is, there's no telling how many birds get wacked before season ever thinks about coming in statewide.
The locals always start season on my lease when the birds start gobbling. I've found empty hulls twice now on opening morning near the traditional roost areas and I know for a fact they weren't fired that morning.

man all i know is that people like that make all us real hunters look bad to those out there against hunting and i for one hope everyone of em gets whats coming. for gods sake they didnt even take the bird for food
