View Full Version : Comments for the appeal

Folks, the appeal will be heard on April 22nd. If you have a comment, you can make it in person on that day if you notify the KYDFWR ahead of time. You can call Dan Figets or email him that you want to speak. Or you can send an email or letter to the same by the 30th of April and it will do the same as speaking out on April 22nd.
The process is not a new debate. You need to comment on the past process and not seek a new debate. The KYDFWR lawyer will take the comments, condense them and send them to a review committee. If it's deemed that the meeting on March thge 4th was unlawful or that something was wrong with the process then the LRC will make a suggestion to redo the rule or change it by law at the nest legislative session. This means that unless the earth starts rotating backwards, that we will be hunting with crossbows for at least one season. If that happens, then the KYDFWR will have the data needed to bring the rule change back next March and have it passed again. I'm optimistic that we will win this and that in the end the rule change will be as advertised--good for the whole.
PM me if you need contact info on who to send you comments to.

Multi,
Do you have some people that are going to attend the meeting? I understand that this is not a debate type of meeting, but I would think the more pro people there, the better.
Are you armed with facts so you can fight off the fiction? I would guess the Board would already have additional facts before they made the original decision, but it is better to be over prepared.
Good Luck!

It's not a debate meeting or a repeat of the Commission meeting. The Commission won't be there. Scott Porter will listen to the comments then catalog them and weed out any redudant ones. Tehy will then be sent on the the LRC. It's not necessary to be there, but i might go and listen to the comments just to see how many BS lies are told this time. Not that it matters, because it's now a case of law.

Tom,
Is Scott Porter still working at KDFWR? I've heard a ton of rumors that he was either let go or quit. He was a nice guy in what dealings I had w/ him...

Scott is near the end with F & W but will handle this, so I'm told. His last day is the 25th. I don't know if he'll be able to finish the appeal or if it will go to someone else.

You can find the contact information BELOW.
All of the LRC members are listed as well as information on whom to contact for the meeting which is ... I believe this is right 2:00 PM in Frankfort Friday April 22. I have forgotten the location of the meeting, but I am sure someone here will KNOW the location.
Also listed are the Governor's Office and other contact info for Fish and Wildlife and for the Commerce Department.
No matter what your position, please come out and comment, or at least send in your personal position as to whether you feel the meeting was properly held and proper notification was given.
The important point being.. No matter which side wins... We all win if the ENTIRE Community of Outdoorsmen is involved.

Actually, Spinfish has posted some more incorrect info on who the comments need to be sent to. Of course his side wants you to circumvent teh procedure that has been used for the past 50 years or so. Those of you that want to comment, and also try and keep the politics out of management decisions can email or write to the man in charge of this appeal:
Send to Dan Figerts at this email address-- dan.figert@ky.gov (dan.figert@ky.gov)
Or by mail to -- Dan Figert
Assistant Director, Wildlife Division
Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife
#1 Game Farm Road
Frankfort, KY 40601
If the appeal process is not followed by involvement from the folks above, then it would be unlawful, and the first unlawful act committed so far. we'll see how it shakes out.

Multi I just thought you would like to know that Bennett's whipping boy wasnt there ( Scott Porter ). Seems this matter is causing quiet a stir and a pretty little gal was the attorney present. I heard she is in close proximity to Host's office. It was good to see Billy Reed there as well.

Scott has been reassigned, but not because of the crossbow issue. I don't think it matters who the attorney was, do you? And I'm sure they are all close to Host's office, as he's now calling the shots for that Dept. We'll see if he wants to introduce politics into the KYDFWR any more than what's already there?
