From 2nd District Federation Secretary Mitchell Howard:

The 2nd District Federation met tonight at the Muhlenberg County Conservation club.

Elections were held - the following were elected:

2nd District League Rep - Kalen Watkins
2nd District President - Charles McCormick
2nd District Vice-Pres. - Dora Mercer
2nd District Secretary - Mitchell Howard

Sgt. Tom Culton showed pictures of poached wild turkeys. A $ 400.00 reward was raised for information leading to an arrest for the 4 wild turkeys that were poached and hung on a farmer's fence in Muhlenberg County.

District Commissioner Tom Baker spoke and answered questions.

Questions were asked him on the 5 dollar senior citizen license and what amount of money the dept is loosing from not selling tags with that license.

Commissioner Baker polled all attending on their view of using the crossbow during the entire bow season. Approx. half voted for the crossbow use, half didn't care, and one person voted against it.

A moment of silence was held for Jim Thompson and George Wright.

Well, aint that something. To hear the anti-crossbow people on here the "sportsmen/women" are"overwhelmingly against crossbows.

What happened? I know, the manufacturers are giving everyone in the 2nd district a new crossbow.. ;)

Thanks Multi and Turk:

I am excited to be the new 2nd District LKS Director and promise to work hard for the Counties in this District:

Allen, Butler, Daviess, Hancock, Henderson, Hopkins, Logan, Mclean, Muhlenberg, Ohio, Simpson, Todd, Union, Warren, and Webster.

I don't beleive in a lot of fighting and arguing or the use of personal insults when disagreements arise. I do believe in listening to the opinion of others and working together as a team to get things done for the good of the District and State. Sometimes compromise can be reached on difficult issues and others times it can't.

I consider myself lucky to be able to live and hunt/fish in the 2nd LKS District of Kentucky. The quantity and quality of wildlife in this District is excellent for most game. On the flip side though, I believe that our number one problem is the lack of available public hunting areas. This problem is contributing to the loss of hunters due to the "hassle" of finding a decent and safe place to hunt. This issue will take years to solve. I also think that our LEO's are severely underpaid and that this issue can be solved.

I plan on meeting with each Club in our District to listen and learn about the issues that affect sportsmen over the next year. I think that it is my job to bring those issues to the LKS table and to Comm. Baker. I am not naive and know that change is slow and needs to be sometimes, but you can't get anything accomplished by just talking.
