Very Crowded
Yeah, its about 10 minutes away from my house. Quite a few turkeys, but there are an outrageous number of hunters there. The hunters usually die down by mid season. Last year my brother was on a bird and callin him in...another hunter was inbetween and shot him. This guy ran out in the field and waved in the location of my brother before runnin off with his trophy.

What a dirty dog!! I had that happen a few years back. Had a hot bird on the pennyrile coming in when all of a sudden I heard a shot right in front of me. I just turned around and walked off.

I won't recommend Pennyrile on Sat's but OK during the week. My buddy and I were hunting the northern entrance the last Sun of the season (a couple back) and had 3 birds from 3 different directions hammering us. We sat down on opposite sides of this big pine and said first bird in gets shot. The hottest was in front of my buddy and it only had to come around this blown down tree. A shot went out not 50 - 60 yds in front of my buddy on the other side of the tree. Up popped this idiot and grabbed the bird and ran. We were shook up because my buddy was ready to squeeze the trigger at the next thing to come around that tree.
My advice: I always pull the orange out in Pennyrile (even when sitting); don't leave @ 9:00 AM; walk at least 10 min away from your parked truck; find a field to set up on in case of rain; don't overlook pathways to and from the golf course & camping area (safe strutting zones); easy on the calling in the early morning; don't limit your calling to only on trails (step off a little into the woods); spray everything for ticks & chiggers; good buffet @ the lodge (and good accommodations). Look under the KY state park webpage to make reservations.

Yellowbank has plenty of hunters as well. Maybe not as bad as Pennyrile but enough to go around.

Quite a unique turkey hunting experience at Yellarbanks WMA .
Standing room only, if you can find a place to park.
Oh yeah, don't forget your camo flak vest and shot proof safety glasses.
Good luck.
