Is there anyone in here that has shot an excaliber bow as well as one of the cheapo off the shelf barnett bows lets say a quad 400 or something. And can you tell me how they would compare in accuracy and quality.
It seems the down side to the excaliber bows is that they are long and I'm presuming the LOP would be long and unadjustable (And Im a short man with short arms have to cut 2" off every gun I get and fear the excaliber would be the same). Though I"m really sold on the recurve over the compound feature.

IMHO....
There is no comparison.
The Excalibur will win hands down EASILY.
I'm not all that tall myself (5' 9") in bare feet.
I can easily cock my Exaclibur Exomag crossbow and that is 200# with a fairly long power stroke.
I did shorten up my rope cocking aid a few inches. That gives me a little bit more room for lifting.
Look at the Phoenix.
That is a shorter bow yet. Lots of men, kids and women shoot and hunt with that one and it is a "deer killing machine". It has plenty of punch.
I am partial to the no nonsense recurved limbed Excaliburs.
IF you do decide to go with a compound I would NOT even consider a Barnett if I was you. I would go with the TenPoint.
After all of my research a few years back I came up with:
1) Excalibur
2) TenPoint
3) Horton
4) Anything but Barnett
Parker also now makes a very nice compound crossbow.

Beyond the cocking of the bow I'm more concerned with the mounting of the bow on my shoulder and reaching the trigger.
5'9 would be nice I'm in the 5'5" class and that was before old age set in and and shrinkage started I quit looking at my height some time ago. The good news is my feet are still growing so I"m hoping it will give me some height.
I might look at the phonenix but doubt I could afford it.
Thanks for the low down on the barnett! Do you recall what was it that made them so a bad thing. They seem to have superior speed of Horton.

The Excalibur line up
..
Everything is the same except the power stroke on the top three bows. The Vixen is a different color- no camo. It does not have the new angled riser and does not have the noise dissipator bars.
ExoMax 225# pull 355fps 16.5 power stroke 6.5 pounds weight overall length 39.5 Arrow length 20 Arrow weight 350 grain minimum Realtree hardwoods finish Dissipator bar
Exocet 200 - 200# pull 330fps 15.5 power stroke 6.4 pounds weight overall length 38.5 Arrow length 20 Arrow weight 350 grain minimum Realtree hardwoods finish Dissipator bar

You can contact Excalibur personally and they can make you a shorter stocked crossbow.
There is a fellow over in Ohio that makes laminated custom stocks for the Excalibur bows. He can make it any length of pull that you need.
