Can I shoot a turkey with a crossbow this spring.

Since the darn things are going to be running in front of me all of a sudden I figuire I'm defitely going to carry one this spring. But I figure since these things are so much better a weapon can I use a crossbow to shoot them instead of that silly ole shot gun.

I would say you can shoot one if you are a good enough shot. But I don't know if you may or not. :)

Ahh we have us a grammer teacher.

Actually I may according to the spring hunting guide.

I was sarcastically making reference to the magical powers of the crossbow to drastically harvest turkey.

If you already knew the answer, why did you ask. I was just being nice. :)

sorry my original sarcasm (regarding the xbow being superior to a shot gun and turkeys flocking to me all of a sudden because I have an xbow) was lost in the question which I answered after asking the question by purusing the spring hunting guide that I found on the old kentucky hunting .com sight.

My main point was really my sarcasm though.

Man, I didn’t see any sarcasm.. ;)

My latest crossbow does all the work for me.

I go out before daylight and just hang it in the tree.

I come back about dusk and gather up the deer it has shot.

You have to be real careful and not put any more arrows in the quiver than what the limit of deer is. These crossbows are really smart, but not smart enough to know the limits.

I understand that a couple of the crossbow companies are working on new model that will kill, gut and drag out your deer all by itself. All you have to do is toss it out the window as you drive through deer country and come back two hours later and pick up your ready to process deer.

They come in different models - Does, bucks, big old bucks and HOLY TOLEDO!!

Yep, these crossbow make deer hunting SO EASY…no wonder so many folks are scared of them..

Well you have obviously not seen the latest.

I don't even have to leave the house. After my latest crossbow arrived it called the turkey to my house it choose the biggest gobbler from the flock of 200 it called and proceeded to drive a bolt through it's eye at 60 yards no less. Then it retrieved the turkey cleaned it and put in the smoker and basted it every 15 minutes. And mounted the tail feathers and hung it on the wall.

Unfortunately it can't make mashed potatoes and gravy to go with it.

Thats not the best part this Xbow has super powers granted to it by the KDFWR and it can harvest as many turkey as I need. No Limit. All while Im watching turkey hunting on the outdoor channel and posting on here.

I always have been a step behind.

What brand and model is that again? That isn't the TURKEY TERMINATOR is it?

I can do without the mashed potatoes, but does it make a decent cornbread stuffing for that turkey?

I was fearfull the we were going to run out of turkey then I found out it pulls them in from up to 600 miles away.

No I'm afraid no side items they wanted another 100 bucks for that model and since all I wanted to do was anilelate the turkey population didn't see any since in it. If I had only known it was such a good cook!

Guys,

I am not trying to stir trouble, but are you sure on the crossbow use this spring? I was under the impression that this still had to go before the Commerce Commision on the 24th which would not be untill after the opening of the season. Again, I am not trying to stir anything up just want be sure. Thanks.

Crossbows are legal. Ky. has a trickle down system in place. The crossbow is a less deadly weapon than a shotgun, so it's legal to use.

This question has been asked and answered in the Fish & Wildlife Questions forum. You might want to check there. Plus, I just checked the spring turkey regs at KDFWR site and the regs say a crossbow is legal. Must have a working safety and 7/8" barbless broadhead.
