0, zero, zilch... Never got one yet!! I spend more time trying to get the boy and the wife one. I have more fun when they do than if I would get one. Eventually I'll get on with the bow.

I killed my first long beard opening day of 2002 hunting with Timberghost. He weighed 23#s with a 10 3/4 inch beard and 1 inch spurs. I killed it in, you guessed it, Hardin County. I am a rookie turkey hunter and Timberghost and I hunt them together. We both killed our first birds in 2001. We set up on the edge of a field in a blind on opening day of 2001. Since we hadn't harvested a bird yet, we both agreeded to harvest any visible beard we saw. We called in a jake and I took him ten minutes after daylight. I went out to get the bird and heard another bird comming. I dragged the jake into the blind and Timberghost got his first bird, another jake, 10 minutes later out of the same set up. These birds are also trophies to me because they were the first we harvested.

Killed a 25#+, 3/4 inch spurs, 10 inch beard last year in Hardin. Couldn't get them to come to a call any last year so the last week, I shadowed them off the roost, then circled down to a clover field and set-up decoys. Had 2 hen decoys and then took a jake decoy that I fix with a jake fan and wings I had from 2001, so he looked in full strut Then I put an arrow shaft in a small bucket so it stood above the spring grass. The wind makes it spin back and forth like its strutting. Killed that one and a 22# on consecutive mornings. If you have someone kill a jake this year, save the wings and tail, tack them to the wall spread and salt the ends heavy. I'd swear by this decoy setup now. just make sure the bucket sticks in the ground a little so the wind doesn't blow it over.

I took a nice 25.5 pounder in Perry County last year. It had 10.5 inch thick beard and 1.25 and 1.5 inch spurs. I used one of those big Lohman cedar box calls until he got close. Then I set that one down and clucked and yelped him in with a split reed caney creek call(a very high pitch, but that's what he liked)! I called 8 more gobblers in to other people, but none of them could hit a bull in the butt.

hey guys anybody scouting yet? i went today and you wouldnt believe what i seen they were 27 turkeys in a clover field. where they have worked and reclaimed a log landing. on the way there i jumped about 15 to 20 grouse and jumped six deer i hunted this spot last year and killed my first turkey with a bow. it weighed 231/2 pounds had 12 and 1/8 inches beard and 1 1/4 spurs got it second week of november 2002 at 2:00pm. i was using one of those porta roofs and turkey blind with mossy oak breakup. a buddy of mine was hunting two ridges over and shot a 6 pointer at the same time. he came and got me to go help him load it on his 300 honda 4x4 and my wife said maybe you guys will stop waking me up at 4 to 5 am now. we live in harlan county. they are alot of great hunting here check it out sometime. where we hunt is called cawood and if anybody reads this and wants to hunt there i would advise them to take a handgun because ive seen two panthers and some kind of big cat dont know exactly what it was and 1 female bear and 2 cubs.

Ronald,
Sounds like a great hunting area. Just a side-note, if turkey hunting the handgun would be against regulation. Here's the full wording from the turkey hunting guide on that subject.
Jeff
Firearms
Modern (breech-loading) and muzzle-loading shotguns no larger than 10 gauge or no smaller than 20 gauge are the only firearms that can be used or possessed when hunting turkeys during the spring turkey seasons.
No rifles or handguns of any type permitted. (More restrictive equipment requirements may apply to some WMAs.)
Hunters shall not use or possess any shot, or shotshell that contains, larger than Number 4 size shot while turkey hunting. (Shot sizes 4, 5 and 6 are most commonly used and effective for turkeys.)
Hunters shall not possess or use shotgun slug or single projectile ammunition while turkey hunting.
Modern (breech-loading) shotguns shall be plugged to hold no more than three shells (one in chamber, two in magazine).

21#, 10 1/2" beard, 1" spurrs, Ballard Co. I watched him come all the way in while gobbling about 50 times on the way. Then he strutted around my decoy three times before I shot him.
